# 22 - Insomnia

"Ohayo"

I nearly jolted when I saw the zombie version of Nishinoya facing me. Believe me, since I'd known him I had never seen him like that. It was quite an amusing sight, to be honest.

He looked incredibly tired. I hugged him tight to give him a little sparkle of energy and he seemed to wake up, indeed.

He had dark shades under his eyes and his bedhair - that means that his hair was more rebellious than ever - made me think he had no time to adjust it and that he had rushed to school. As I imagined the scene, the thought that I didn't know where he actually lived popped out into my mind.

As he rubbed his eyes in attempt to stay awake as my little brother had been doing the day before when he saw us that close, I had a little laugh but I was blushing in the meantime because I imagined his lips close to mine.

"Uhm... Something is telling me you didn't manage to get enough sleep last night, did you?" I mocked him with a little smile.

"Yaaaawn... No way you guessed it, Sherlock" he still had his typical humour.

"Why didn't you?" I asked, as he didn't give me any explanation.

"Please don't laugh" he looked damn serious now "Promised?"

"Promised" I replied, raising an eyebrow.

"I studied. All night long" was the answer. The effect of those words was devastating. The whole corridor plunged into a silence so solid you could cut it with a knife. Everyone there was staring at the two of us. Nobody seemed to believe it.

The scene inevitably caused me to laugh out loud.

"YOU BRAT! YOU PROMISED NOT TO!" he yelled as he was trying to stop me from laughing.

"So, is it true?" I asked Sugawara during a pause. The silver-haired setter had a towel around his shoulders.

"Yup" he simply replied.

I just couldn't believe the motionless thing laying half asleep in the court was Nishinoya Yuu. He had been missing many receives he would have never failed in normal conditions.

And yet, this was his way to show how volleyball mattered to him. He was studying hard, he was giving his best to enter the prestigious university, just to be in that famous club. He would even accept to do the thing he hated the most in the world for the sake of the one he loved the most.

"I'm helping him out, also" Suga went on "And I'm happy you've been trying to help him too. I'm sure he saw you accepted the fact he's gonna try the exam even though passing it would mean for you to part".

"Oi, Tanaka! Help me with this baby" in the meantime, Daichi and Tanaka were picking Nishinoya up to move him from the court, on which he was almost fainting.

Daichi was holding him from his armpits while Tanaka had grabbed his ankles and with that they transported the little brat on the bench I was sitting on. So there he was, lying on his back with some drool hanging from one corner of his mouth.

In the meantime, the others had come back to their practice. Kiyoko was helping Hinata and Kageyama while Yachi was taking care of the volleyballs scattered in the gym and of the drinks every now and then. Coach Ukai was supervising the middle blockers.

So I sat closer to Noya and adjusted him so that his head was resting on my lap.

"Have some sleep, you brat... You deserve it" I whispered to him, caressing his cheek.

When practice ended and Nishinoya had woken up, he insisted to walk me home even though he was dead tired.

As we were walking, he told me about the dream he had when he was asleep.

"... There was light everywhere and a voice told me I deserved to have some sleep" he said, causing me to blush because I knew he was referring to what I had spoken to him "Maybe it was some sort of Goddess, who knows?".

"IT WASN'T HER!" I scoffed in wrath as I thought he might be talking about Kiyoko. Then I crossed my arms and pouted in anger, avoiding eye contact.

"Whoa I was right" he sneered then.

"About... what?" I couldn't help but ask.

"[Name]-chan is jealous!"

"WHA-?! YOU BRAT! I HATE YOU" I yelled again with my face on fire, trying to hit him with my fists but without looking at him.

"Does your reaction mean it's true?" he asked whilst grabbing my wrists to stop me from hitting him.

"I think you need some sleep!" I let out.

"Really? I think I need something else right now"

I froze, then I instinctively closed my eyes, waiting for him to kiss me.

But he just hugged me and leaned his head onto my breast.

"Hmmmm... You're so soft and warm, [Name]-chan..."

"O-okay but please don't fall asleep..."

"Yaaawn... I wanna sleep beside you tonight" he hummed, still clinging onto me "My parents won't mind if I tell them I'm staying at my friend's house"

Friend..? Does he like me or not then? I was confused.

"W-well... I'll have to ask mom before"

As I took the spare futon out to place it on the floor next to my bed, Noya pointed at it and asked: "What do you wanna do with that?".

"I'm getting you some place to sleep, you know" I sarcastically spoke "You've caused me more trouble than you imagine with this". I was thinking about my mother's playful grin as he said Noya could stay the night.

"But... I wanna sleep next to you" he pouted like a child.

After a couple of seconds, I gave in.

"Okay, okay. But make sure to get some sleep. You told me the exam is tomorrow"

"Yup. This is exactly why I wanted to stay with you. I feel like my anxiety goes away when you're around... You're like... the Great Goddess" he said whilst placing an arm behind his head and looking at the ceiling. This was good since he couldn't see my face going almost purple behind my arms.

"I-I think you're talking nonsense... Let's get some sleep now, okay?"

As I placed myself under the blankets wearing my fluffy pajamas after having turned the lights off, he joined me and hugged me again. His head was on my breasts again.

"Awww they're so soft and warm and..." then he fell asleep.

T-they!?

I hoped he didn't hear my heart beating fast. As tons of thoughts swirled into my head, I slowly fell asleep with my head against his soft hair.

I actually wanted to update the chapter yesterday but I was sick and my head ached T_T

Okay, I admit it... I'm in need of fluff lately so I'm always writing things like that sorryyy O///O *blushes violently*
