# 27 - We'll hide it

The next day as I woke up I found Nishinoya sitting in the kitchen chatting with mom.
I rubbed my eyes to make sure that celestial vision was real.

"Hey, ohayo [Name]-chan!" he cheerfully spoke as he saw me. He then showed a really cute grin that made my senses wake up all at once.

"O-ohayo" I stuttered as I sat next to him in my pajamas.

After a silence followed, my mother's words made me freeze: "Congrats, you guys make a good couple!".
And then she blinked as nothing mattered.

I got prepared and then got out with Noya to school.
"What were you doing at my place?" I asked.
"Weren't you happy? I thought it was a good idea to walk to school with my girlfriend " he said.
The last two words he spoke made me blush and my ears were sort of emitting vapour as a hot teapot.

"I think I gotta get used to this" I said "it's too good to be true".
"Listen..." he replied after pecking my forehead "I think it's better to hide our relationship... I mean... because of Tsukishima and Kiyoko, you know"
I agreed but then I intertwined my fingers into his.
"I think it's no bad until we're outta school" I grinned.

But as soon as I said this, I heard a familiar voice greeting us.
"Ohayo!"

Shit.

It was Yamaguchi. How long had he been looking at us?
As he approached us, I let go of Noya's hand.
This was really a good start, indeed.

But the best was yet to come.

Later in the afternoon, I decided to go watch the boys' practice.
Noya and I entered the gym along with Hinata and Kageyama.
But as soon as we got in, we found Tanaka and Sugawara holding what looked like a huge banner.
CONGRATS YOU BRATS was the writing onto it.

"HEYYYY!" my best Bro bellowed as a welcome "WE'RE SO HAPPY ABOUT IT!"

"About what?" Tsukishima asked as soon as he entered the gym with Yamaguchi.

Aw crap.

I looked at Tanaka and tried to make him understand he had to shut up about me and Noya with Tsukishima especially, but then he said something that made me let out a breathe of relief.

"Don't you know?! C'MOOOON" Tanaka exclaimed "Noya got the best score in the school in the exam for the prestigious university! I don't know how he managed it... And I actually envy him a bit since he'll surely be able to enter that volleyball club".

"So what?" Tsukishima commented "if I could take the test I'd surely be better than him"
"You look really confident" Noya grinned.
"Tch. And what about you, [Name]?"
"Oh, she has finally recovered from her injury" Sugawara said and then he blinked at me.

God, thank you for my Suga-mama!

Tsukishima didn't look really persuaded about it, but suddenly Kiyoko entered the gym.
She looked like she had been running since she was panting.
Everybody, as usual when she made her appearance in the gym, looked at her in silence before she started talking.

I hadn't seen her like that.
Normally she wouldn't have been running for any reason. She looked too calm and composed for any kind of feeling like anxiety to reach her and actually I had always envied her for her calmness.
But this time was different. She looked different. She was even excited.

"Nishinoya" she said as she catches her breath again "have you heard about the decision of the teachers' council?"
"No, actually. What's it about?" he simply replied.
"They have decided that the ones who have got the highest score have to go on a trip to the University in Kobayashi. You and I".

Now that I knew she had a crush on Noya, I couldn't help but notice how she blushed and looked away, how her voice seemed to change and how her fingers were twisting together in pure embarrassment.

My heart had a pang of sorrow. It was horrible and I was silently going crazy with it.
But as these things were happening on the inside of me, nobody could guess those feelings.
On the outside, everything was going okay.

After practice, Noya walked me home.
He was cheerful and talkative towards me but I actually couldn't speak a word.
I was lost in the thoughts provoked by the wound that Kiyoko's words had opened into my heart some time before.

He seemed to notice something wasn't okay because he asked me: "Are you upset about the trip, aren't you?".
I decided to be true to him: "Yes, I am".
He crossed his arms behind his neck as we were still walking and thought about it.
"I understand how you feel" he then said "but you know how things are. I like you and only you, so please trust me. I promise I will text you everyday".

At his words my tense muscles and nerves seemed to loosen up a bit and I gave him a little smile.
"I like you better when you smile... Now come here".

We had arrived at my place in the meantime.
He hugged me tight and kissed me.

When I got inside my house and said 'Tadaima', my little brother Taki greeted me.

"I'm happy, nee-chan! I like you and Noya together!" he childishly grinned and hugged me.
I blushed and gently patted his head.
