On a sunny Thursday afternoon, Jacob came home from school and football practice to hear his entire house empty.
"Hello?! Anyone home?!" He called out. He heard his sister reply from the living room.
"In here!" Melanie yelled.
Jacob walked into the living room to see his sister sitting on the floor doing her homework on the coffee table. Jacob dropped his bags on the floor and stretched his arms.
"Where's mom? She said she had an early day today." Jacob wondered as he walked into the kitchen.
"You know mom." Melanie sighed. "She's all about work. She was suppose to help me with this project I have."
Jacob hummed as he opened the fridge and grabbed a bottle of a power drink. He walked back into the living room and stood a couple feet away from her.
"What's it on?" He asked.
Melanie looked up at him and sighed. "I have to write it on a group of people who inspire me. So, I was gonna write it about mom and her co-workers who work all around the country, but she's not here to help me."
"Write it on someone else." Jacob shrugged.
Melanie looked up at him and smiled. "What about you? The Dallas Jaguars? A female quarterback, had a winning streak, went through a shooting and still play every Friday night, and you're the only white person on the team? That's great! Can I interview your friends?"
Jacob chuckled as he drank more of his energy drink. "Sure. Why not? I think they'll be highly flattered."
Melanie waved him over. "You first! Come on, time is money. I need to do this by Monday."
Jacob laughed as he walked over and sat next to his sister and begun to answer her many questions.

Meanwhile a couple blocks away, Ricky was laying on the couch with his brothers watching a little kid's movie about vegetables and fruits working together to get rid of fat foods.
Ricky could feel Nick climb onto his back and sit on him. Ricky just ignored him since he wasn't very heavy and he wasn't hurting him.
They all heard a loud knock on the door starling all three of the Barnes brothers.
"Mommy!" Mike called out. "Someone's at the door!"
Their mom Rachel came rushing out of the kitchen, having been in the middle of cooking dinner, and went to the front door.
Ricky watched her turn the corner to go to the front door than disappear behind the wall. He didn't hear anything and just hush talking than a low chuckle.
"Mom? Everything okay?" Ricky called out.
When none of the brothers heard anything, Ricky felt his instincts kick in. He reached onto his back and pulled Nick off of him. He set him on the floor and quickly got up off the couch.
"Stay here. Both of you. Don't move a muscle." Ricky instructed. "If you hear anything bad happen go hide under my bed, okay?"
The two little brothers nodded and gave Ricky a thumbs up. Ricky walked out of the living room and to the door. When he turned the corner he saw the last person he expected to be at his door.
"Why the hell are you here?" Ricky barked. He walked over and in front of his mom. "You got a lot of nerve to show up here."
