CHAPTER 1:

Hiro Nakajima

September 12th, 2013: 9:45 PM

Hiro Nakajima looked out the window at his fire escape, and then snuck out of his bedroom, down the escape and out onto the streets.

He had a jacket on to keep him warm from the cool chill of the night, and he also had his backpack with him as he descended.

He made sure that his parents hadn't heard him sneaking out of the apartment duplex that they lived in, and then began to make his way towards his destination.

It would just be a quick trip across the river into south Manhattan he reminded himself.

He would be back before they knew he was gone, his Parents at this moment thought he was in his worm working on his studies...if they knew what he was really doing they would have hit the roof and shipped him off to boarding school or something.

But Hiro wasn't doing this sneaking out of his parents' house and going into the city alone as some kind of rebellion against his assertive parents, he loved his parents.

He was a good kid.

No the real reason he was doing this was because of his parents...or to be more presence, his parents issues.

The economy, and the lack of need for a architect like his father in a city that many where saying was as built as it was going to be...until some said the NEXT terrorist attack happened on American soil in New York that is.

His father had been struggling to find work in the big city, he had heard his parents talk about the possibility of moving to Chicago to try and start anew there where there might be greener pastures.

Now Hiro wouldn't have minded moving to Chicago, if he hadn't been through six different schools in the past two years that is.

He didn't want to move again, he had just started school here in New York.

But what could he do?

He couldn't get any money for his parents to change their minds with...or could he?

And that's why he was breaking curfew, because he DID have a way, a way to keep his family from moving and a way to provide them with enough money to keep them financials steady until his father found a business that would accept his architectural expertise.

He had been secretly studying the crystal since the day he found it, and even with his limited knowledge on gems and rocks...he could tell it was unique.

Not even his parents knew about what he had found, and what was now inside his backpack.

It was some kind of crystal that he had found, about a foot long in length and glowing with an eerie blue light.

No stone in the world did that as far as he knew.

It also did something else, when Hiro held it the Crystal vibrated, pulsed...almost like the source of the strange blue glow of the crystal was trying to get out...to get to him.
