Chapter Six

Mullen pov

"Are you serious? Are you sure this is legal?" I asked, he shrugged "I do it all the time" he said "alright" I said under my breath. "Where are we?" He sighed "will you just shut up for one minute?" He asked. I put my hands up in the air "Okay, okay, sorry" I said, hoisting myself up the giant rock we were climbing "I don't get why we have to climb this fucking mountain!" I complained he laughed "shut up!" He said.

"You could have told me there was climbing involved though" I said, he sighed and turned towards me, his blue eyes, looking into mine "I said, shut up" I rolled my eyes as he turned around and kept walking "rude" I grumbled, hoping he didn't hear me.

"Ahh, finally" he said, looking over to me with a bright smile. The moon light, turning his face a blue colour, his eyes shone brightly as the crinkles by his eyes appeared *photo at the top* "isn't it beautiful?" He asked. I nodded looking out, I could see the whole city on top of this hill "its amazing, how did you find something like this?" I asked "well my father and I used to do a lot of hiking and he found this place, I fell in love with it" he told me. "But why did you take me here, and not Kara?" I asked "You seemed like you'd enjoy it more than her, you don't take things for granted, you like the beauty in things, you take the time to see it"  he said.

"I do...I guess, its nice, seeing things like this, gives me a sense of peace" I said, looking over to him with a smile. He smiled back and sat down on the edge of the rock, so his feet were hanging off the edge "come on" he said, patting the spot next to him. I sat down "so tell me about yourself" he said "you don't have to tell me anything you don't want, just something interesting" he said and I raised my eyebrow "what are you going to give me in return?" I asked "Oh, this is one of those games, a question for a question" I said "yup" I said popping the 'p'. "Aright, ladies first" he said.

"Alright, when's your birthday?" I asked, he chuckled "February 17th" he said "Yours?" He asked "December 19th" I said. "Ooh, its getting close" he said "whats your favourite colour?" I asked "you're going to laugh at me" he said "its orange isn't it?" I asked "yeah..." he dragged "yours?" He asked "orange, like the sunset" I said. He laughed, nodding.

A cloud moved over the moon, blocking the light, a gust of wind blew through our hair, making it fly everywhere. Ed laughed as he helped me flatten it. The cloud moved as the wind died down and I could see Ed's face again, my smile faded realising how close our faces were. I pulled away, clearing my throat. "I've got a question" I said "shoot" he said.

"Have you ever wondered why people are so cruel?" I asked, he looked out over the city and sighed "all the time, why?" He asked. "I don't know, I just over think too much, sorry" I said. "Its alright" he said, taking my hand in his "I don't understand why your sister is such a bitch to you"he said. "I don't either and frankly, I don't care, she's the least of my worries" I told him. "Why, what do you have to worry about?" He asked. "A lot" I laughed. He nodded "don't we all" he said, grabbing a beer out of his bag. "Wh-where did that come from?" I asked. He laughed, handing me one "I put them in my bag when you weren't looking" he said "well, thank god for that" I said, opening it and taking a drink.

"We should head back before the sun comes up" I said, looking up at the sky, it was just starting to turn an orange colour. "I thought you liked this colour" Ed said "I do" I sighed "its just Kara-" I started, he interrupted me "fuck her, don't let her get to you! Stop being afraid of her, she's just jealous" he said, I chuckled "I think you've had a bit too much to drink" I said "Ive only had one, and I'm serious" he said. "And what does she have to be jealous about?" I asked "you, everything about you, you're amazing, beautiful, nice and Harry told me you can sing" he said. I laughed "yeah, okay he likes to lie" I said. "We should really get back though, I'm meeting Harry in like-" I checked the time on my phone "shit! An hour!" I said, getting up "I'm sorry, I have to go, are you coming?" I asked "uh, yeah" he said, getting up.

"I'm sorry, I really wish we could stay but Harry and I are dealing with something important" I told him, keeping my eyes on the road as I talked. "Its fine" he said "I have to meet your sister anyways" he said, I nodded, glancing over at him for a second, he was looking back at me "you know, that's really distracting" I said "what is?" He chuckled "you're staring at me!" I laughed "am not" he mumbled. I shook my head "whatever" I said, concentrating on the road.

We pulled into the parking lot of my apartment building. I parked the car and we got out "should we...go in separately?" I asked, he knitted his eyebrows together "why? You really that worried about your sister?" He asked "well, we did just spend the whole night together" I said, he winced "that's true" he said "she'll definitely get the wrong idea about that" I said. He nodded "I'll go in first" I said. He nodded "I'll wait, 10 minutes" he said, I nodded.

"You were out all night?" Kara asked, sitting at the bar, eating breakfast "yeah, so?" I asked "where you alone?" She asked "why do you keep accusing me of hitting on Ed, because I was with Harry" I said. She shrugged "it just seems like something you would do, right little sis?" She asked. My breath caught in my throat "I would never-" my words got caught in my throat "I could never-" I took a deep breath "do that to you" I said. She sighed and got up from her seat "you mean, you could never do that, again?" She asked "I never did it at all, Kara, he lied to you! To get to me" I said.

She scoffed "whatever, I don't believe you" she said "fine, don't- don't trust me then, but the least you could do it trust Ed, he'd never do that to you, I can see it in his eyes, he cares for you" I said. She blinked a couple times, I sighed as I walked down the hallway "I'm going out" I said, grabbing my bag and exiting the door again.

I passed Ed on the way out "hey, are you okay, where are you going?" He asked "I'm going to meet Harry, I'm fine" I said walking towards the exit.

I knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer it. "Mullen, hey I've been waiting for you" Harry said "sorry, I was with Ed" I said. He looked shocked "you were...with Ed?" He asked, I nodded "yes, we hung out last night" I said "just...hung out?" He asked and I rolled my eyes "why does everyone think I'm going to sleep with him!" I yelled "whoa, just calm down, I was only joking!" He laughed. "Its not funny" I said. "Sorry, but you can't deny that you two like each other" he said. I shook my head.

"Maybe, I don't know how he feels though"
