Five days later...
It was around noon, when Stevie crawled out of her warm bed and made her way into the kitchen to get herself a cup of coffee. Once again, she had not slept well during the night. The conversation she had had with Lindsey a few days ago was still heavy on her mind. On top of that, he had not tried to get in touch with her ever since, which was very unusual for him.
Stevie had just sat down on her balcony, sipping on her hot coffee and looking out at the ocean in front of her, when she heard the door bell ring.
Getting up and pushing the button on her inter phone, she was suprised to hear Lindsey's voice on the other end, asking her for entrance.
Two minutes later, she opened the door for him, quietly cursing herself for not at least brushing her hair and getting out of her nightgown and into some other clothes earlier.
"Hey!", he grinned from ear to ear when he stepped in.
"Hi..", Stevie responded, not sure of what to think about his surprise visit and closing the door behind him.
"Before you even ask, and I know it's on your mind", he said, turning around and walking a few steps towards her, hands in his pockets, "I didn't call or come around earlier because I thought you needed some time to process everything that happened between us the other night. It's been a lot and I didn't want to overwhelm you by leaving a thousand voice messages on your answering machine and making it all the more harder for you than it already is. Even though, I spent these past few days thinking of nothing but you."
Stevie smiled sweetly in response, "Thank you. And you're right, I needed that. I mean, the time to collect my thoughts.."
"And..?!", Lindsey asked slowly, looking at her expectantly.
She took a deep breath, "I'm in. We give this a try."
"Oh my God!", Lindsey squealed like a little boy, causing Stevie to laugh in response when he ran into her arms and covered her face and hair with kisses, "You just made me the happiest man in the world. I honestly thought, you'd puss out."
"So did I, actually", she admitted with a chuckle.
"Jesus..", Lindsey muttered, rocking her back and forth in his arms, "Give me a kiss."
Stevie tilted her head backwards and met him in a loving, tender kiss which caused the both of them to grin happily against one another's lips.
"I'm so happy right now, I fear my heart is going to burst any minute..", Lindsey laughed.
Stevie placed one hand on his chest, feeling his heart racing through his shirt, "Yeah, I fear that, too, honey."
They both laughed and Lindsey kissed her once more, holding her as close to him as possible, "I promise you, you won't regret making this decision, Steph."
"Yeah, I better won't.", she joked, bopping him on the nose affectionately.
"I promise you that from the bottom of my heart.", he said sincerely, looking deeply into her eyes, "I'll do my very best."
"So, will I..", she said softly, caressing the side of his face, "But please, be soft on me, Linds. You know, it's been years since I've been with anybody."
"I will.", he reassured her, taking her by the hand and pulling her with him down on the couch in the living-room.
Stevie giggled lightly when he made her straddle him and his hands ran up and down her bare legs, then to her behind that he squeezed appreciatively.
"So, what is it that you want to do today?", Lindsey said eventually, tearing his eyes away from her breasts and looking up at her face again.
"What do you mean?", she asked laughingly.
"Well, how do you want to spend the day with me? Is there anything you want to do? A place you want to go to? Anything?"
"Are you serious?!", she looked at him wide-eyed, "You don't just want to spend the day in bed with me? You actually want to go somewhere and do something? Because I cannot even remember the last time we actually went somewhere. It must have been when we officially still were a couple.. All those years afterwards, we usually just had sex behind closed doors.."
"That's because at least one of us was always with someone else while we were doing it behind their backs. But I really want to change that. Believe it or not, honey, and it really hurts me to say that, but the times I screwed you for four to five hours a day are over."
"Thanks God!", Stevie laughed out loud, "I swear, my hips couldn't take it anymore!"
They fell into a heavy fit of laughter, Lindsey pulling her down next to him, until they eventually ended up in a spooning position, calming down some.
"Well, you know, there is a place I'd really like to go to for a while now, but I didn't want to go there alone nor drag Karen with me. She'd hate it."
"What is it?", he asked, propping up his head on an elbow, the other hand playing with one of her golden hair strands.
Stevie turned her head some to be able to meet his eyes, "A gallery here in LA. The paintings really are exquisit. The artist is a young man from San Francisco. He's very talented. I met him a few months ago at another vernissage and saw a small section of his work."
"And the gallery is open, today?"
"Yes, it is."
He smiled against her hair, placing a kiss there, "Then, we'll go there, today."
"Really?", she asked enthusiastically, looking up at him with shining eyes.
"Really.", he said, placing another kiss on her nose.
"Oh, Lindsey, thank you. That means so much to me."
"You're welcome.", Lindsey said, nuzzling his face in her neck, gently kissing and biting her sensitive skin.
"That's nice..", Stevie moaned, closing her eyes and tilting her head some to give him better access, "But if you keep doing this, I fear I'm gonna fall asleep, Linds. It's so relaxing and I haven't slept well these past few nights.."
"Because of me?"
"More or less, yes.."
"It's okay. Just sleep some. I'll stay right here with you. And when you wake up again, I'll take you out to that gallery and a nice romantic dinner afterwards. How does that sound?"
"Fantastic.", Stevie said, pecking him on the lips, "Absolutely fantastic."
