"Good morning.", Stevie greeted Lindsey warmly when he entered the kitchen after going for a run.

Lindsey smiled, his hair still wet from the shower, "Good morning to you, too. I'm surprised you're up, already, to be honest."

"I woke up and you were gone.", Stevie said matter-of-factly, "So I thought I could get up and prepare breakfast instead. I figured you'd be hungry when you came back."

"And you were right.", Lindsey replied with a grin, placed a loving kiss on her lips and sat down opposite from her to pour himself a cup of hot coffee, "Thank you, honey."

"You're welcome.", she said softly and began to eat.

They sat in comfortable silence for a while, just having breakfast together at the dinner table of Stevie's condo, occasionally their eyes would meet and they shared a loving smile.

When Lindsey was in the middle of reading the newspaper, Stevie reached into the side pockets of her dressing gown and pulled out a tiny box that she carefully placed down on to the table before sliding it across the wooden surface into Lindsey's direction.

Quizzically, he teared his eyes away from the review he had been reading and looked up at her, "What's that?!"

"Open it up!", she said in response.

Lindsey took the tiny box into his hands, then openend it and looked inside. He smiled when he pulled out a charm keychain made of solid silver. A guitar, a clef and the elegantly curved letter L were attached to four different keys.

"It's been almost three months and, well, I thought it was time that you get these...", Stevie said softly, "I know you've been using one of my spare keys to get in and out but I want you to know that I want you here, Lindsey. Even though, I'm sure you know this by now."

Lindsey's smile grew even wider listening to her words. He knew this was a huge step for Stevie and a big act of faith to allow him constant access to her homes.

"The smaller ones are for my condo and the other two for my home in Malibu.", she went on when he didn't say something.

"Thank you, baby. That means a lot.", Lindsey said and grabbed her hand to squeeze it appreciatively.

Stevie smiled, then went on, "Actually, there is something else I would like to discuss with you..."

"Sure, what is it?", Lindsey asked while attaching Stevie's gift to his key ring.

"I would like to tell a few people about us. I.. I feel ready to take this next step with you.", Stevie muttered somewhat shyly, "That doesn't mean that I want to make an official statement but.. Well, I would like to at least tell Mary, Karen, and my family. And you should do that, too. I don't want them to find out through a photograph in some tabloid because someone may have taken a picture of us having dinner in a restaurant together or something.. Besides, I fear Karen might think I'm having some kind of a depression by now, because I've given her paid vacation for weeks and haven't been interested in any new projects lately but stayed at home instead.", she chuckled.

Lindsey looked at her wide-eyed, not having expected her saying that at all, "Does that mean I can tell my kids about you? About us?"

"Yes.", Stevie could only say before Lindsey engulfed her in a hug.

"Oh, Steph, that means so much to me.", Lindsey whispered in to her ear, overcome with emotion while holding on to her tightly.

"I know..", Stevie said softly and caressed his head, "And I'm ready for it. Like I said, we've been together for almost three months, now, and I feel like it's the right thing to do."

Lindsey closed his eyes for a moment, then pulled back to look deeply into hers before saying, "I love you."

"And I love you.", she whispered, meeting him in a loving kiss, "The last few weeks with you have been nothing but wonderful. And even though we had our little disagreements here and there, you made me realize that we can in fact be a couple again. That we can be together without killing each other."

Lindsey chuckled at her words, "Yeah, that was your biggest fear.."

"It was. I'm not gonna lie.", Stevie answered, while laughingly shaking her head.

Lindsey observed her face, really taking in every little detail about it.

"What's wrong?", she asked then, seeing his serious facial expression.

"I was just looking at you..", he shrugged, "And I can't help but think that you look exceptionally beautiful whenever you laugh."

Stevie blushed lightly in response, "Why, thank you."

"Oh, and you make me want you.", he muttered before scooping her up into his arms to carry her into the bedroom.
