I smirked as I sat in the corner of the living room, unable to be seen by Josh and his two new-found friends. They were trying to give Josh some advice about me, but they were mistaken about one thing.
I'm not the usual weak little Collector, or "Agma" as they liked to call us. I am much more powerful than they think, but they'll realize the eventually. But by then it will be too late for Tyler and Josh.
Once the other two left I did too, waiting until Tyler goes to bed before returning later that night. I manifested in the corner of the bedroom and looked around, but Josh was nowhere to be seen. I could still feel his presence in the apartment though; he must just be stalking Tyler on social media again or something.
Idiot.
I walked over to Tyler's bed and just looked at him for a moment. I had a sense of déjà vu as I looked down on Tyler. I could remember doing this for the girl I looked after. What was her name...
I can't remember.
I remember that I liked the way it sounded when she laughed, but I can't remember the sound. The sounds of her desperate sobs however, I couldn't forget those no matter what I tried.
I can't remember he face when she smiled, but I remember how it looked as the last bit of life left her eyes.
I can't recall the feel of the warmth she had brought to my heart, but I still feel the cold emptiness from where she was ripped away from me by a monster.
The same kind of monster that I have become.
The only thing that saves me is knowing that the Collector that took her from me and turned me into this abomination was destroyed a few years ago.
I snapped myself out of my memories, returning to my task at hand. In a way I was doing Tyler a favor, he feels just as miserable as me or worse. At least I can show him how to escape that feeling, I can never escape it. I'm just hoping it will lessen when I get promoted to a demon.
Before I could start to show Tyler visions, I heard a loud scream from behind me and a large force hitting me in the back, sending us through the very same wall as last night.
Fucking Josh.
He tried to pin me down, but I simply dissipated and reformed behind him. "I thought I told you to stay out of the way," I hissed, glaring at Josh. That didn't stop his snarky reply.
"And you're dumber than I thought if you actually believed that I would listen to you."
I shot forward and grabbed a fistful on his bright blue hair and yanked him off the ground. I brought my head next to his and spoke menacingly right into his ear.
"I guess we'll have to do something about that won't we? You forget boy, I know much more than you." I dragged him back into Tyler's room and began the incantation for the mirror trap.
The small hand mirror Tyler kept in his room began to glow. I was trying to enchant the big mirror, but that will have to do. I grabbed the small mirror and slammed it down on top of Josh's head, effectively sending him into it.
Knowing Josh could still see what was going on out here, I propped the mirror up so he could watch as I messed with Tyler's mind. I took on the form of Blurryface and gave Josh one more grin before turning back to Tyler.
Now, where was I?
As I kept speaking Tyler began to cry in his sleep. Things were going perfectly until I heard a crack come from my left. I snapped my head up and say that the mirror Josh was in had a crack running down the middle of it. What the hell? The surface of the mirror shook slightly and smaller cracks started to appear.
What the fuck is going on? None of the others were able to! With new urgency, I increased the harshness of my words and visions trying to do as much damage as I could before anything else unexpected happened.
It worked.
Tyler woke up in a panic before Josh was able to do much else. Before Tyler could register his surroundings, I grabbed the mirror and went out into the hallway.
"What are you doing? You shouldn't be able to do that!" I spoke, mostly to myself.
Did I make a mistake in the incantation? That had to be it. Suddenly the glass broke and Josh was free. He ended up pinning me down, but when I tried to dissipate like earlier, it didn't work. My form flickered, but I stayed in place.
"What are you doing?" I yelled out. This is not how I wanted my night to go.
"Honestly, I have no clue. I have no idea what I'm doing at all, but that's not going to stop me. You will not win, you hear me? I'm going to be here protecting Tyler every night for as long as necessary. I will help him, and you will cease to exist. You'll simply be a bad dream in his past. Do you understand?"
Without a word I shifted back into my shadow form so he couldn't see the frustration I was feeling. With a huff he stood up and told me to leave. I did, I had already messed with Tyler a lot tonight, and my job was done.
The following day Josh finally revealed himself to Tyler. It didn't go in my favor, instead of panicking and pushing Josh away, the two of them started talking like long-time friends.
Well, this won't do. I'm definitely going to have to do something about that later. Tonight, however, wasn't the right night for that.
Right before I left to go see Tyler, I felt a strong sense of despair coming from somewhere else in the apartment building. I went to where it was coming from to discover an elderly couple in the apartment below Tyler's.
Apparently their son and his family were killed in a house fire. Sad for them, but for me this was perfect. The more fear, anger, misery, any negative emotion really, is around the more power I can I have. I can draw on the energy from it and use it to my advantage.
I continued on to Tyler's apartment, appearing in his bedroom only to find Tyler and Josh were not alone. One of the guys from the other day was here, the one that didn't look like an adorable little bunny.
"To weak to handle me on your own, Josh?" I taunted.
"No, I just got bored hanging out at the Halb and decided to come have some fun kicking your ass." The man replied, clearly trying to act tough and intimidating.
If only he knew how powerful I am, and what's going on downstairs. I can practically feel the energy coursing through me. Without saying a word, I began to shift out of my shadow form and into Blurryface. The man's stance slouched slightly and I saw the color drain out of his face. Not so tough now, are we?
"Uh, Josh? How long has it been able to do that?" He questioned quietly.
