~~~~~~~ Hikari's Pov~~~~~~~
I awoke to the sun streaming through the leaves of the forest canopy. I shielded my eyes from the blinding light and rolled over; wrapping my jacket closer around me. I laid on the grass, half asleep, and listened to the sounds of the forest. It was the loud splashing that finally woke me up completely. Groaning, I rolled to my knees and crouched next to the long put out fire. The biting cold of the winter morning made me wish that the fire was still burning bright as it had before I went to sleep last night. I poked the charred embers and hoped that the fire would spontaneously ignite and warm my hands; no luck there. It had been a week since Silver, Alex, and I had left the city, and Red and Yellow. However, because of my incredible luck, Alex and insisted we walk through the forest instead of along the road, then he'd gotten us lost.
I sighed and I thought about the possibility of another long day of walking and cold night in the forest. Forgetting my doomed mission of making fire spontaneously come to life by poking charred wood with a stick, and released my pokemon one by one and fed them a handful of berries we had collected during our previous day walk through the forest. The pokemon rolled around in the grass together, before curling back up into their pokeballs to sleep. Eve was the exception. Together, we went to investigate the splashing noise I had heard. It wasn't long before we reached the back of a slow moving stream. The stream wasn't deep, maybe waist high at it's deepest. Despite the chill in the air I decided to take my shoes off and step into the cold ,flowing water. I shivered slightly as the water ran over my feet. Eve, oblivious to the cold, scampered around in the water like it was the first time she had seen it. I bent down and cupped my hands to scoop us some water. I brought the liquid to my mouth and drank it. Dropping my hand to my sides, I observed my surroundings. The stream wasn't deep, and it seemed that we had come up to a bend of the stream; 50 yards in each direction the stream curved and disappeared around a corner. On the other side of the stream, the forest continued into the black shadows; There was still no signs of us being close to a town.
I started to loose the feeling in my feet, I stepped out of the water and put my shoes back on. I plopped down on a plush patch of grass and watched eve play in the water. Soon I found myself closing my eyes; my mind drifting ways. The sounds were pleasant; the wind blowing through the trees, eve's splashing in the stream, the soft gurgling of water over rock. My mind cleared. Curiously, the sound started to grow louder and louder, as if they were being played through speakers and someone was turning up the volume steadily. The wind roared in my ears, and splashing became deafening crashes like thunder rumbling. The soft gurgling of the water over the rock became as loud as water crashing off a waterfall. I covered my ears instinctively, and my eyes snapped open, desperate to find the source of the noise. I was no longer sitting on the stream bank. I was standing on the edge of a large cliff. The noised weren't water or the wind, but two large pokemon making thunderous noise as they screeched and crashed together as the fought. Black and white bodies slammed and the two engaged in a fight that I knew would end them both. The ground shook with the impact, and the cliff became webbed with cracks. I looked up and there was someone on the other side of the cliff. Then, the cliff crumbled and I was falling. I closed my eyes and before a scream could be ripped from my throat, someone called my name. I opened my eyes, and with a start realized that I was back on the stream bank and my fingernails were painfully dug into my legs. Shaking slightly I clasped my hands together. Across the stream, I saw Alex on the other bank.
"Wow, you must have been really lost in your thoughts. I called your name at least 4 times." He said in a humorous tone. I shook my head and blinked a few times before I gave him a half smile.
"Something like that." before he could say anything else an unintelligible yell came from behind him. Alex dove to the side just in time to avoid the shower of webs that shot from the darkness of the forest behind him; I wasn't as lucky. The webs fired past Alex and I covered my face with my hand just it time for the webs to hit me. I quickly stood up and surveyed the damage. The sticky webs cover my clothes and hair. Anger built in my chest and I glared at Alex from across the stream.
