I hastily grabbed a used 90's looking duffel bag and packed it with the clothes I had from years of robbing stores and stealing from James' "on again off again" girlfriend's closet. She just couldn't decide on whether to live here or in her appartment. Tanktops, a skintight black dress, jeans, shirts, underwear, bras, shorts, a pair of black high heels, regular black vans, accessories, socks, a small pillow and a scooby-doo blanket, some hair ties and necessities. Basically anything I could find in my size or was usefull in some way. I found a hundred dollar bill which would help me get some food in my stomach on this adventure, and for saftey purposes, put it inside my shoe. Last but not least, my inheritance. A long gold necklace with a heart shaped locket which sat perfectly in the middle of my chest, right in between my ribcage. In it, there was a picture of a woman with bright red hair and green eyes, holding me. She was smiling, so was I. There was also a man with black hair and glasses holding me along with the redhead. We were all smiling, and there were cousins and uncles behind us, I guess. We looked happy, but I could not believe these people cared about me. If they did, why am I here?
I fastened the necklace securely on my neck and smiled. James wouldn't let me wear it at all, and he said "I was lucky he didn't sell it on ebay." I rolled my eyes, loving the feeling of being rebellious and defying his stupid rules.
I turned around and looked at myself in the mirror. Black soffee shorts, a worn out green tube top which brought out my eyes, a light black jacket, and black muddy converses. My dark penny-colored hair reached my hips in loose waves, and scratches, scars and bruises appeared on my thin long legs and arms. My face was scratched up a bit too, with my new head injury now turning into a bloody scrape and a bruise forming under my cheek. Also, I looked like I haven't showered in weeks. I guess I was ready.
I heard James shut the door to the bathroom.
I swallowed, grabbed my duffel bag, and slowly opened the window. It was a very small house with two floors, so getting out should be simple. I swung a rope out and slid down, waiting for that ear-popping, glass-shattering scream from James, but nothing happened.
I stood there for a minute, grinning like an idiot while letting this feeling sink in. The feeling of freedom, of a new beginning...
And then I ran. Ran as fast as I could, up north, away from all the bonfires and college students, and most importantly away from James.

It was dark, windy and a bit cold, the typical Rhode Island summer night. I thought about a place to settle while walking down Dawson Street. I passed McDonald's and then it hit me-- the park. The benches were usually empty except for the occasional drunken man. I walked a couple blocks down then entered the park. It was marvelous. Benches surrounded a large area of green grass, and right in the middle was a statue of a large cherub with water spewing out of his mouth, into the fountain surrounding him. I claimed my territory, grabbed the scooby blanket, and just used my duffel bag as a pillow. I'd use my real pillow some other time.
I lowered my head to the bag, and closed my eyes. There was a slight fear deep in my that James would find me, probably kill me too, but I was too far away.
And he probably didn't care.
I hugged myself tightly and slowly fell asleep.
_____________SNAPES POV______________
"Severus, it looks like there has been a mistake.." Dumbledore said, his bright blue eyes shining.
"And what may that be?" I said
"We missed a witch. And I'll need you to go get her and bring her back to Hogwarts."
"Whatever you wish.. where is the girl?" I said, disdain towards the girl evident in my voice. I just wanted to hurry up and get her, I had things much more important in my life.
"She is in Rhode Island, in America. We had sent her a letter two days ago, but she has changed location since then. Here is the letter, the adress will change everytime she moves somewhere else. I suppose it will be rather easy to find her."
I gently grabbed the letter and looked at the adress: The Third Bench in Medowlane Park, Medowlane, Rhode Island.
"... A bench? Are you sure the adress is correct, Albus?" I raised my brow.
He nodded, "Yes... it seems like she was in trouble and merely had to escape. Now, you may ask her these questions once you find her. She has already missed a couple years of learning, so bring her here quickly."
"And what makes you think the child will learn about 3 years of education in 3 months?"
"She will. She has a sharp mind, and when there is a will, there is a way. Good luck, Severus."
I nodded and proceeded out of Dumbledore's office. I started down the lightly lit hallways. It was eerily quiet, but I was used to it since all the children had gone home for the summer. I looked at the letter, pondering why a person would choose a bench, out of all things to reside on.
"Portus" I murmured.
A typical item, a palm-sized globe, glistened with blue lights. Although this Portkey was unauthorized, I was doing what Dumbledore told me to do.

I ended up on a sidewalk, near the Medowlane park. I looked around for the third bench through the darkness and saw what looked like a 14 year old sleeping on the bench in a squirmed up fetal position under a blanket. I walked toward her, stared for a second, then shook her shoulder.
She stirred, but did not wake up. I sighed and shook harder.
"Wake up." I sneered.
She instantly opened her eyes and gasped, covering her face and pulling her knees to her chest.
"Don't hurt me James! I'm sorry!" she cried.
"Shh! I am not James. I am Professor Snape, from the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry." I hissed.
She lowered her arms and looked at me with big emerald green eyes. I surpressed a gasp. She looked exactly like Lilly. She had her differences, but she did strike an astounding resemblance. The cuts and bruises on her face didn't help the feeling of losing Lily return to my heart.
"Wizardry? You mean, a school for magic..?" she raised her eyebrow, her voice filled with skepticism.
"Yes. Haven't you recieved the letter? It was sent two days ago, but you didn't respond. So I was sent." I said calmly as I handed her the letter and watched as she read.
She looked up and pursed her lips.
She stared at me for a minute, then nodded.
"Alright," she sighed and stood up, "The only reason I'm coming with you is because I need to leave this place," She grabbed her bag. "...but I still think you're a goon."
I held out the globe. "Touch it, and we will be transported to Hogwarts."
I saw the doubt in her face as she stopped in the middle of raising her hand.
"Trust me. I won't hurt you."
She bit her lip.
"What if this thing is like a tazer, only instead of making me paralyzed for, I don't know, 30 seconds, it kills me?"
I was just about to explain the whole concept when she gasped.
"Shit shit shit SHIT!"
I turned around to see a man with brown hair and a hostile expression approaching us.
"COME BACK HERE YOU LITTLE GIT!"
He took out his gun and started to shoot, aiming right for the girl.
She screamed and instantly put her bloody hand on the globe..
