GENEVIEVE'S POV
Monday, September 8th
"So, I was thinking we could all get ready for the ball together, isn't that a good idea, Genevieve?" Pansy asked as we walked to Herbology class. I was next to her while Tracey, Daphne and Millicent were walking timidly behind us.
I bit my lip and thought about Draco. Who is he going to the Yule Ball with? Probably with Pansy, she own him like he's her pet poodle or something. But, doesn't she get the hint that he's not so into her as she thought? She practically jumps on his lap and he's just sitting there trying to throw her off while the guys laugh at him.
I came back to reality when Pansy snapped her fingers in my face.
"Hello, anyone there?" She asked, aggravated. The trio halted behind her and formed a line.
"Yeah.... yah. Sorry, I was just thinking." I said and sighed, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ears. She rolled her eyes and continued to babble about how she was going to have the best gown at the ball.
"It's going to be light pink, and flow down to the floor. The sleeves will be lace, and I bet I'll have the prettiest dress there." Pansy said arrogantly.
"I bet Draco will just take me to one of the carriages too, if you know what I mean." She said with a smirk.
"They have carriages? And what do you mean? I don't--" I stopped and looked at her with wide eyes. Did she mean...? Oh god, she did!
"Yep. I'll have Drakie all to myself." She said. I tried to cover up my laugh but instead got a muffled snort. Drakie? You have got to be kidding me.
"What?" She spat, venom in her voice as she glared. I shook my head dismissively.
"Nothing, nothing..." I said with a giggle.
"Whatever. My mother is sending in my dress, what about you?" She asked, looking around. I pursed my lips.
"I guess I'll just try and find something... I don't have a mom, so..." I said awkwardly, looking down at my feet.
"Pity." Pansy said and patted my shoulder. At least she was trying to be sympathetic. Usually you'd get an eye roll from the wicked witch of the west.
Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures, Arithmancy and Double Divination class went by quickly, and after that I had detention with Professor Snape, as if I hadn't got enough of his attitude already. He was dull and mean in the classroom although I would surpass his expectations when conjuring up potions. Where was the professor I used to know? I thought he'd be a little more lenient with me because we spent the summer together, he was practically my guardian during those three months!
I approached the door to his office and knocked, wondering what he'd make me do. Scrub the floor, polish his beakers, maybe even write on a board?
He opened the door and with his usual grim mask on, let me in. I sat down in the black leather chair across from his desk waiting.
"You will alphabetize all my books, which will undoubtably take a while. Talk to me when you are done. Now go." He said plainly and returned to reading the Daily Prophet.
I sighed and took out all the books and started to get to work. There were about a thousand books in his little library and it would take ages just to finish half of it...
After an hour, I had completed the first half of the books. I started from T to Z because his library was just one tall, tall book shelf. I'd need a ladder to do A-S. I looked to my left and saw that there was one attached to the shelf. It swiveled around so you could get the book you wanted. It reminded me of the time where Belle from Beauty and the Beast was returning the book she borrowed from the book store.
