Reaping :

I've been waiting for this day for a while now. Today was the reaping. I didn't mind whether or not I was reaped, if I was then I wouldn't be distraught, like those weird people who I've seen over react before, but then again if I wasn't reaped I really wouldn't mind.

I got up out of my untidy bed and walked towards an old wooden rocking chair that used to belong to my great grandmother, who recently passed away from cancer. On the chair lay the light blue dress with white lace on the hem and collar pieces, I has laid it out the night before. I thought this dress would match my eyes, the only thing I actually like about my body.

I slipped on the dress and paired it with a pair of white gladiator sandals. I made my way through my house to the kitchen where I grabbed an apple before proceeding to head out of the front door.

Slowly but surely I made it to the town square where I checked myself in with yet another blood sample like every other citizen in the district. I went to the area with the rest of th girls my age, I never really liked any of them, except for the one girl, April. She always seemed to amaze me. She was probably my only friend, and family, seeing as the rest of my family had been transferred to district 8.

It was time. Jayde Williams, our district representitive, took the stage in her incredibly high green and pink heels.

"I feel like switching things up today!" She exclaimed, "I think I will pick our male tribute first!"

I couldn't really hear what went on after that seeing as I was quite far back, but when the boy took the stage I never recognized him. He seemed pretty average, just like everyone else in this damned place.

Jayde picked a name from the female bowl, and of course, it had to read; "Lottie Adams"

I wasn't really shocked. I didn't really care either. April gave me a final look as tears begun to flood her eyes. I waved goodbye to her as i took my place on stage.
