Ember Windsnapp-Interview

I look at myself in the mirror, my blaze red hair framing my face perfectly.

Wow.

I can barely recognize myself in the stunning royal blue gown that I am wearing. It's skirt frills out at the bottom so elegantly that it takes my breath away. I don't think I have ever looked this beautiful in my lifetime.

But all the beauty aside, I am a nervous wreck. I'm sweating like crazy, and I really hope that the camera doesn't notice the growing pit stains under my arms. It feels like there is a rock in my stomach since it is twisted in such a big knot.

I try my best not to focus on it. This ends up in me just staring at the ground and thinking about home and doing nothing-besides giving Leya a thumbs up after her interview. Luckily, I am good at masking my nervousness(minus the pit stains), making myself look excited even though I am screaming inside.

Finally, they call my name, and some of the knots in my stomach loosen.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Ember Windsnapp!" Caesar calls, gesturing to the curtain where I jump out from, plastering a wide grin on my face and waving kindly to the crowd.

After my entrance, I sink down onto the plush chair beside Caesar's. But, I am so surprised at it's comfort that I don't even notice the surprised look on my face, which Caesar addresses.

"Comfy isn't it?" he says in a singsong voice.

I snap back into reality and lower my raised eyebrows.

"Yes!" I say cheerfully.

"I'm assuming you are taking a liking to the Capital?"

"How could you not? This place in like heaven! It makes me even more happy that I volunteered!" I lie, sounding genuine, but on the inside I am screaming every swear word I know at President Snow.

"I'm glad you like it! Speaking of volunteering, you volunteered for your sister, correct?"

"Yes. It was her first year, and I didn't want her to have all the fun! I don't regret volunteering," I answer.

I'm sorry Lucelia, I think.

"I'm glad to see you are enthusiastic!" Caesar states.

I smile and blush.

"At the beginning of all of this, you had an alliance with Addalyn Maxwell. But recently you have joined forces with Leya Brooks and Seth Gunner. Any particular reason?" He asks.

"Well, the two are also pretty experienced, and Addalyn and I didn't see why not to join with them. The more the merrier, I guess."

"Well, I wish you good luck tomorrow. Ladies and gentlemen, Ember Windsnapp!"

Cheers arise, and I look over the colorful crowd. I see one sign that states: Redheads Rule!

I walk off the stage, particularly pleased with myself. I didn't make too much embarrassing comments.

Then it strikes me.

Tomorrow is the Games.

"You okay?" Leya asks as I come offstage.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

I'm good at lying.
