My stupid alarm clock rings loudly in my ears and I sigh, picking up my phone to turn it off. 8:10 AM. My Golden Retriever, Oliver, lays down at my feet still asleep. I rub my eyes while I sit up against my headboard.
Laura and Holland, my two best friends, are making me go to a Chicago Cubs game. I hate them a lot, all of the Montclairs do, even though my cousin, Ben Zobrist, is one of the second basemen.
I slowly get out of my comfy bed and walking to my kitchen. I just decide to eat some cereal, I was never one to eat a lot of breakfast. I get some Cinnamon Toast Crunch out of the pantry and pour it in the bowl, eating quickly.
I walk back to my room slowly, this is what I get for staying up extremely late, I guess. My eyes scan through the closet attempting to find an outfit to wear today. I finally pick out a white v-neck and Cubs blue jeans. Why do I even have these jeans? I ask myself and pull my jean jacket off a hanger too. I place my pajamas in the hamper and put on the outfit with a sigh. I honestly don't want to go, but Holland will probably come to my house with a knife if I don't show up.
I brush my teeth thoroughly I think, wash my face, and put on deodorant before getting out all of my makeup, might as well be simple today. I just put on foundation, powder, mascara, and a bit of eyeliner. I looked weird without eyeliner so I have to put it on. I brush out my tangled hair, there's so much pain doing this but I have to at least look decent. I do a side braid and place a white beanie on, it's supposed to be cold.
"Bye, Oliver!" I call to my dog who's in the living room. "Be good and don't chew up anything!" I walk to my car and start it. I listen to the radio as I drive the short drive to Hollands house.
Arriving, I knock on the door and hear footsteps and the patter of her small dogs footsteps too. She opens the door with a smile on her face. "Hey, Elaina!"
"Hey, Holl," I say and see Laura in the living room watching TV. Both of them in full Cubs gear. Cubs shirts, blue, everything was Cubs.
"We need to get going so we don't have to wait a million years to get our tickets scanned," Laura says and grabs her purse.
"Laura, Ben just lets me walk in whenever I go to his games though," I say with a sigh as she brings me to Hollands car.
"Maybe you, but not us!" Laura says pointing to her and Holland. They do realize that Ben said they could come in with me anytime, right?
I sit in the backseat as they talk and gossip about something. Always love being the third wheel...
When we get to Wrigley Field, I text Ben where I am and he quickly makes his way to me.
"Hey Elaina," he says with a goofy grin on his face.
"Hey Ben," I say and smile. He gives me a quick side hug.
"What are you doing here?" He asks. "You're a White Sox fan."
"Holland and Laura forced me to come," I say nonchalantly.
"Will you please come and meet the team? They want to meet you and you should meet them, they're really fun," Ben begs and I sigh quietly.
"Fine." I give in and he smiles widely.
"Yay!" He squeals like a child and drags me away from the crowd of people to the Club House
Ben and I wait for all the guys to come out of the locker room and I get bored very quickly. Soon, all of his teammates walk out, looking my way.
"Who's that?" A guy asks pointing and other people chime in wondering too.
"This is Elaina, she's my cousin but is more like a sister to meet. I finally got her to give in to meeting you all," Ben explains and I give them a small wave. They all wave but I see one guy just smirk.
"Hurry up, ladies!" Joe Maddon yells to them. I barely hold in a laugh as they all walk out to the field.
The mysterious smirking guy walks my way. He's tall. I think and look up a but at him. "So, your names Elaina?"
"Yeah," I say with a nod and a look of confusion on my face. "And yours is?"
"Kristopher Bryant, people call me Kris though. Kristopher just sounds dumb," he says and I'm the one who smirks now.
"Kristopher, it's nice to meet you," I say as the smirk grows wider on my face.
"Shut up," he says, rolling his blue eyes.
"You're an asshole," I say looking into his blue eyes.
"And you should stop talking about yourself," he says, a smirk plastered across his face. "I should go now."
"Bye Kristopher," I smirk and watch him walk away before walking away myself.
When the game starts, I walk to the seats by Laura and Holland and they wave to me while the pitcher throws the first pitch of the game which was a strike. The inning was easy, two strikeouts and a pop out.
Their lead off hitter, Fowler was his last name leads off with a single into left as the crowd cheers.
I see the last name Bryant on the guys jersey and immediately recognize him as he steps up to the plate.
"Kris is perfect!" Laura fangirls and I roll my eyes at her craziness.
They crowd cheers right once the ball makes contact with the bat and it sails into the left field bleachers and Kris jogs his way around the bases.
They win the game seven to zero easily and I meet up with Ben. "Good job in left and nice catch by the way."
"Thanks, E," he tells me. "I should get going. Julianna and the kids are probably waiting on me. See you later, Elaina!"
"Bye Ben!" I wave and watch him walk over to his car. I have to walk all the way home, Holland and Laura left me. Again.
I start the walks and hear footsteps behind me and get worried that'll they'll try and force me. "Hey!" I turn around to meet the Kris guy.
"What do you want?" I ask kind of rudely as he makes his way over to me.
"Why would a girl like you be walking home alone this late at night?" He asks with a raised eyebrow.
"My friends ditched me," I say and cross my arms. "Why do you even care?"
"Let me drive you home," he suggests. "We don't want anything happening to Bens cousin now, do we?
"Fine," I say and walk over to his car with him, getting in I buckle my seatbelt and get ready for the long drive.
I direct him to Hollands house since my car was there and he stops in front of her house just like I said. "Thanks."
"You're welcome," he says. I quickly step in my car and drive home, not even remembering the drive.
I go inside my house and slowly walk to my bathroom to take a quick shower. I do before getting in my pajamas and laying in bed.
Kris was pretty attractive, stop Elaina. His eye were mesmerizing. Elaina, shut up, you can't think that way about him. I think, but it's so hard not to think of him that way.Hey guys! I hope you enjoy this book! The cover is really stupid but it'll do
