The chaos and the calm

Beach please!

It was next weekend and Brennan wanted to go to the beach and invited me. I said yes it was a Saturday so I didn't have gym. I arouse from my comfortable bed into a cold room the felt like -60 degrees compared to my bed. I walked over to my dresser and picked out a bathing suit I put it on with a blue cover up with lace around it I put on sunscreen and sandals. I walked over to Hayley's room and ran my fingers through her hair
"Annie?" She whispered
"Yes, hay?" I replied
"When will I play with Caleb again?"her words struck me in the heart but I answered calmly.
"You will play with Caleb whenever God wants you to play with him."
"So god decides when I get to play with Caleb"
"Yes he has a plan, David went to heaven and got lonely so he sent Caleb to play with him.so you don't have to worry about Caleb."
"I miss him"
"I know I do to but we're going to see him again it could be in 80 years or in the blink of an eye you never know but you can always talk to him Hayley."
" how do I talk to him Annie?"
I placed both of her hands together.
  "now close your eyes" she closed her eyes and I said
"hi Caleb I got Hayley here because she missed you."
" hi Caleb!!!! I miss you"
Hayley continued talking to Caleb I think she knew he wouldn't respond but  she kept asking questions and I couldn't help but smile.
"Amen" I said after she finished.
" you do that whenever you want Hayley ok?"
"Ok!"she said.
"I gotta run h$ but I'll see ya later" I leaned in and removed her hair from he face and kissed her forehead. I walked out and saw Brennan standing outside of the door. my jaw dropped.
" um, how long have you been standing there?"
"Long enough"
"And not to be noses but who is Caleb?"
"He's our old dog that passed away" I lied.
"Oh I'm very sorry."
"No it's ok" it wasn't ok.
"Will the beach make you feel any better?"
" yes that'd be great" we walked out to the car and drove for about an hour I stared out the window and it was cloudy outside. It wasn't a good day for the beach it looked sad and depressing outside. I just wanted to hold Hayley and for Caleb to hold me. That won't be possible for a long time though.
We were here I got out of the car and Brennan took my hand and helped me down.i looked around and saw the trees swaying and the choppy water then at Brennan. He smiled and I smiled.
"How long has it Been since you've been to the beach?" He asked
"Awhile." I responded.
"I can tell" we laughed
I walked over to the water and touched it. I layed a towel down and Brennan layed his next to mine.
"So what do you do for fun?"I asked to break the silence.
" I play baseball." I looked down at the sand.
"That's cool I had a friend who played baseball for 8 years"
"Who was he? He might be on my team?"
"Oh uh he's not on your team... He lives in Texas."
"Your lying I can tell"
" no I'm not"
" just tell me later"
"Maybe" we decided we wouldn't stay for long so we went to his house and I was going to spend the night at his house. He recommended that Hayley come over too became he has a little brother named Ryan. Hayley came over and we all took showers and got dressed. I put my hair in what Hayley calls it "the classic Annie bun" her and Ryan played in his room and Hayley tried to teach him gymnastic it was funny. Me and Brennan went into his room to watch tv we watched random pointless shows.
"So what was that thing you were "maybe" going to tell me?" He asked.i teared up.
"Can you keep this between us, nobody at school and only under one circumstance."
"What is the one circumstance?"
"no pity"
"Deal "
" you know that dog Caleb?"
" yes?"
"he was my brother and he passed away last month and David, david was my cousin. He died from accidental hanging and Caleb from a undetected heart disease. Hayley's been taking it hard and I don't share it with people because they don't give me Hugs, they give me pity and that's the one thing I don't want in my life right now."
