The next day, I had a fever. I was out in the class so I was marked absent. I went to the nearest community hospital to have a check-up.
When I was waiting to be consulted by a doctor, an old lady with a long white hair, sat beside me smiling. I just thought that she was a crazy old woman and I went to the doctor.
When I was finished, the old lady came next and I left the clinic. Just before I was about to go outside in the hospital, I realized that I left my cell phone in the clinic. I ran back to get it before it gets stolen. I went inside and saw my phone being held by the old lady.
“Is this your phone? You left it in here. Please be careful next time.” She said.
“…Thank you.. very much..”
I told her and realized that she was such a good lady. I went back home and took my medicine.
I went to school the next day. I told my teacher I had a fever and went to the hospital yesterday. She asked for the doctor’s prescription but I never thought of bringing it today. I’m such a dumb kid. She didn’t believe I had fever yesterday and just let me in the room. Well, I didn’t care. I sat in my chair and slept. Suddenly,
“What happened?”
Oh. It was Gail. I didn’t expect her to start a conversation. It was pretty unusual. She stopped reading her new favorite book “World’s Greatest Mysteries” just to ask me what happened. It was really rare for her to do that.
“I just had a fever.” I told her.
“Oh. Okay.” She said.
“It’s feels nice for someone to believe that I really had a fever. The teacher is such a bitch for not believing me.” I told her.
“It’s not about believing you or not, I just didn’t care.”
She told me. Even though both of us decided to be friends, she talks to me the same as we were still not friends. I don’t get her.
“Eh? You didn’t care? You’re so cold T.T so why did you bother asking me what happened if you didn’t care?”
“I don’t know. Curiosity I guess.” She told me.
“Curiosity? or concern? Hahaha. You must be so concerned about me. ”
“Shut up. Just go die.” She told me harshly.
I kept on laughing, and she kept on getting harsh on me. It was fun teasing her. She wasn’t bad as being a friend. I thought that maybe this school year must be more fun than I expected.
