School is really irritating. I studied in Neophyte’s Academy when I was still in sixth grade. School for me is very bothersome because there are too many projects, assignments, activities and periodical exams. I was tired and decided to have a new life.

I transferred in Heaven’s Gate Academy where I started studying as a first year high school student. Luckily, no one knows who I am and I changed my way of living.

“Huh? Ed got zero in the poetry exercise again?” Our English teacher said.

“He was zero for not doing the test ma’am.” Our class president told her.

“Why didn’t you take the exam Ed?”

“I was tired ma’am.”

I told her. Well to be honest, I was really tired. I slept for only 3 hours because I had many house hold chores to do.

“Ed, you better change. Change now or it’ll be too late for you.” She said.

“You should imitate Ricky and be like him.”

I should imitate Ricky? What a joke. Even though he’s the first honor and is really good with almost everything doesn’t mean he’s perfect.

Geez. They talk like they know everything about me. It’s funny how they treat me like I was dumber than the rest of them.

“Speaking about poems, I just read a poem written by one of your classmates that I gave a score of A. I was really surprised of her poem.”

“Eh????!!!!! Her??!!!! Does that mean that the writer of the poem is a girl??! It isn’t Ricky’s??!!” The whole class was surprised.

“Ricky’s poem was also good but I think this poem is better than his.”

Eh? So there is someone who wrote a poem better than Ricky’s? It’s pretty rare.

I looked at Ricky’s face and I can tell that he’s totally pissed off. He has the greatest pride as a brilliant student in the whole class. To him, this is a great insult to his poetry skills.

I didn’t care which girl wrote the good poem because I just didn’t care. I didn’t ca-

“She is Gail Lyle Mwen. Give a big round of applause please.

…………………………Huh? Did.. I… correctly hear… what she said?... Did she….. really say… Gail?

“WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!!!!!!!! You’re awesome Gail!!!!” (applause) The room was filled with claps and applause.

“You’ve got some great talent young lady. Please hone your poetry skills and become a great poet.”

Our English teacher said.

“I don’t really get what’s happening but I will try to learn more.” Gail responded.

She has her own good points huh? Interesting.

“Gail please read your poem in front of the class for everyone to hear.”

“Okay.”

Thinking about it, this is her first time to show up and read something in front of the class. I am eager to hear it.

“History and Curiosity”

Sometimes I just wanna travel back in time and go

In the time where it was 500 million years ago

In order to discover the secrets in this world that we don’t know

To know how the earth looked young and how it slowly grow

Are dinosaurs true or fake?

Did dinosaurs even date?

I think the ground will really really shake

Each time a gigantic dinosaur will mate

Did cavemen successfully tame a dinosaur?

That every time we feed them they would lick us and roar?

It would be really awesome to ride a dinosaur if we can do

To have a pet dinosaur is like a dream come true

Was the Stonehenge built up by the cavemen?

Or was it even built by an alien?

Did they build it as their kitchen?

What’s the reason for building it then?

There are still things in this world that we don’t know

That even the most brilliant scientists don’t have the answers to show

Sometimes we just want to satisfy our curiosity

And the history of this world remains a mystery

After hearing her poem, all I ever thought was

“Not bad.”
