"Come on Silver, the Andersons are expecting us at seven!" My mom calls out so I take a last look at the mirror and straighten my cream skater dress which I paired with black booties and darted down the stairs.
Then my phone beeps, I glance at it and see it's a text from Drew. I stop in my tracks and opened it,
Bring your graduation cap with you, I love you <3
I think I just melted on the spot but I jog back to my room tucking my phone to my bag, grab my cap shoving it inside my bag too and deciding on skipping on replying to him as my mother is now yelling from the front door "Silver Jones come down here!"
"Sprinting like Bolt mother!" I yell back huffing from all the running.
We're finally inside my mother's trusty old Ford truck that's barely holding together but is doing the job of getting us from point a to point b nonetheless.
Soon enough we arrive at the Anderson's house which is of course huge, it is heavily inspired by European architecture and is all white with gorgeous ravine views.
Drew's father, Erick Anderson is the Mayor of our little town in Arizona called Bisbee and his mother, Anne Anderson is a top notch lawyer and my mother's best friend.
The gate slides open and at the front door, Drew's leaning in one of the columns supporting the second floor front porch.
He opens the squeaking door of the truck and I get off it, soon my mother circles through the truck to us and gives Drew a short hug.
"Let's go inside the Anderson couple have been running around all night excited on their boots." He says smirking then opening the door for us.
We walk towards the heavenly smelling dining room, the table filled with food, a couple of champagne bottles in a stainless tub of ice right in the middle and an excited looking Anne welcoming both me and my mom.
"Oh you are so beautiful dear Silver just like your mother!" She greets me with a hug.
I let out a silent laugh as I know it is all pleasantries, although I have resemblances with my mom, I am nowhere near her league she looks like one of the Elves in Lord of the Rings.
"Thank you Anne, you're ravishing as usual" I return the compliment making her smile.
She goes on and greets my mom and they began to engage in an animated conversation, then Erick comes down from the second floor and beams as he caught sight of us.
"Ah Crystal, Silver! Finally!" He calls out as he reaches the final steps of their staircase.
After all the greetings and pleasantries, our intimate dinner began everything going smooth until Anne brings up college.
I immediately stiffen at the mention and Drew extends his hand to my knee rubbing it lightly and giving me a reassuring look.
I nod and smile at him.
"So Andrew is heading to UA. I'm so glad Tucson is only a two hour drive away" Anne casually throws in.
My mother smiles and looks at Drew with pride "You've chosen a team, I finally get to say I'm so glad you didn't choose San Diego but... know that I would've been happy for you either way" She chips in.
I stare at Drew as he replies "Yes, it wasn't a hard decision, I wanted to stay as close to home as possible" then looked at me with loving eyes.
I should be happy; my heart should be swelling at how lucky I am to have someone like him, someone who would even consider me in choosing his future.
