Chapter Five: Chicago

Conor's POV
We're in the car on our way to Chicago now. The radio was on and we were singing along with every song that came on. We didn't even care if it sounded good or not. I love how I can be my crazy self around Ashley. She truly is my best friend. 

"You look really pretty today" I said.

"Ahw thanks babe" she said. "You know I just threw this on this morning. It's nothing fancy"

"Well you're still the most beautiful girl out there" I said smiling at her.

"You're the cutest" She smiled back and quickly kissed my cheek, since I had to watch the road while driving.

Ashley's POV
We were in the car, just listening to some music and being silly. I love doing that with Conor, he's one of the few people that actually joins in when I do silly stuff.

"Oh babe, I wanted to let you know that Jane's planning on coming soon"

Jane is my best friend since pre-school. She moved away to Orlando before I started 7th grade. But fortunately we always stayed in touch, so she knows about Conor. She was super excited for me when I told her I was dating him.

"That's great Ash, then I can finally meet her. When is she coming?"

"She's coming here in 4 weeks, and she's staying here for one. We should plan something, she really wants to meet you too" I said excitingly.

"I agree she should really meet that handsome and funny boyfriend of yours" he teased.

"And very humble I might add" I said laughing.

"Oh yes, very humble indeed" he replied laughing too.
"Oh this song's awesome!" Conor started singing along while turning the radio up.

Conor's POV
After a 2-hour drive we finally arrived in Chicago. The first thing we did was visit the Brookfield Zoo. We saw so many animals I lost count. We walked through the entire zoo and took tons of pictures of us and the animals. 
We bought some stuffed animals for Ashley to bring home for her parents. I decided to buy some mugs to bring for my parents.
After the zoo, we went downtown to eat lunch and check out some gaming stores.

It was all fun and games - ha, get it? -  until Ash saw a "Sale"-sign outside the H&M, got all excited and dragged me into the store. She walked around the store for what felt like for-ev-er and ended up only buying 4 items.

"It's a good deal" she claimed.

When we walked out of the store my feet were sore. But Ashley was happy, so it was worth it.

Ashley's POV
We were walking out of the H&M, where I got some super cute clothes on sale.
It was so sweet of Conor to walk through the store with me the entire time. He really is a good boyfriend.

It was already 6 pm so we decided to go to the beach to eat dinner. We ended up at this cute Italian restaurant with a view of the beach. It was absolutely perfect.

We had dinner and decided to close the night with ice cream and a stroll down the beach. Conor's arm was around my waist and mine was around his.

"Thank you for today, I had so much fun" I said.

"Anything for you Ash" he said smiling.

"I don't recall you being this sweet when we first met" I teased him.

"Hey, I don't recall you being nice to me either. In fact, you were rather bossy" he teased back and we both started laughing.

After a minute of silence Conor looked me in the eye and said: "I love you Ash"

Did he really just say that??

"Where did that come from?" I asked smiling at him.

"From a place where I waited too long to say that. And being here with you I still can't completely believe that we're dating, that you're mine. It's all so surreal"

"Nahw you're so sweet, I never knew you could be so romantic" I said giggling.

"Bet you won't see this coming either" he said.

He pulled me close and leaned in to put his lips on mine. I felt butterflies in my stomach. It was the cutest moment ever, I never wanted it to end.

We pulled away and I was still smiling and processing what happened, that I didn't notice Conor was picking me up and running towards the ocean.
I was brought back to reality when I saw water underneath me and started screaming. I tried to hold onto Conor really tight so he couldn't drop me. But it was too late: I felt the cold water touch my skin and went completely under.
When I got back up again I saw Conor cracking up.

"Conor!" I screamed and slapped him. Pretty hard.

"Didn't see that coming huh" he smirked. "No I did not" I pouted.

"Ah babe, I'm sor-" Conor started but couldn't finish because I splashed water in his face.

"Gotchaa!" I said laughing.

"Oh you wanna play it this way?"

"Bring it." I said

We then splashed water at each other like a bunch of 5-year olds. Conor picked me up and threw me in the water a couple more times. Darn why is he so strong?

We were cracking up. When we calmed down, I decided to jump on his back for a piggy back ride. I nestled my head into his neck as he was walking back towards our stuff on the beach.

We sat down and watched the last minutes of the sun setting above the sea.

Conor pulled me close and said "Best day ever"
