Chapter Ten: Trouble.

What you missed last chapter:
Conor's POV
"Yes we won! Only two more matches to go guys!" I said. "Yeah about that.." Wendell started. "We are not gonna be there for the other two matches." Franklin said.

Ashley's POV
I looked at Conor and our mouths just dropped.

"You guys are what?" I asked. "Why?"

"Well we figured you guys don't need us anymore since you are the ones playing the last 2 matches."

"But we need your support. We're a team." Conor said.

"A team is supposed to trust each other. Which you clearly don't do with Lika since she's benched." Wendell said.

"Therefore we can't support you guys, I'm sorry sir but we're going to take the next bus back home" Franklin continued.

Conor turned to Lika and asked "Do you agree with all this?"

"Well I haven't felt entirely welcome here if that's what you're asking. I was already thinking about going home but then they found out and wanted to come with."

"Well good luck, we'll see you at home. Come on guys." Wendell, Franklin and Lika turned around and walked out the door, leaving me and Conor in shock.

Conor's POV
There we were, just me and Ash.
No Wendell. No Franklin. No team. Ash turned to me, tears forming in her eyes. I walked over to her and held her. She buried her face in my neck and started crying softly.

"Hey, it's gonna be okay. We're gonna be okay."

"I just don't understand how.. And why.. And wha-"

"Shh... It's okay. I'm confused too, but hey.." I lifted up her chin and looked into her eyes. "We'll figure this out together. It's just you and me now. And no matter what happens, we'll always be a team."

Ash smiled through her tears and said "You and me. Always."

I kissed her forehead and hugged her again.

We then walked back to the hotel room where we told my parents everything. They offered to go back home but we wanted to stay and win this thing. We'll face the guys and Lika later.

The next match would the one-on-one, which is tomorrow. I was going to play against the captain of GamerSlayers (made-up name). His name was Jake.

Me and Ash just wanted to distract ourselves from all this drama and went to the best way to do this: getting out and about.

Our parents wanted to visit downtown too so they joined us. We decided to get dinner together first at an Argentinian restaurant and get some coffee afterwards at Starbucks.

We had a lovely evening. We met some of my parents' high school friends at the restaurants and had some good laughs with them. Ash blended in fine; I could tell my parents' friends loved her from the start.

The next day
Ashley's POV
When I woke up it was still dark outside. I looked on my phone and it said 6:30 am. Great. Today's match doesn't start until 3 in the afternoon. What am I gonna do in all this spare time? I decided to text Jane. (If you forgot: Ashley's best friend who moved away long ago)

Me: Janeeyy, I can't wait to see you!!
JJ 👯:  Me either Ash-bear, I miss you!! How's the tournament? Got any big wins yet?
Me: We won the first match yet we lost big time
JJ 👯: Why what happened?
I explained Jane the entire story, including all the details
JJ 👯: Aww I'm sorry Ash.. But bf points for Conor, he's such a gentleman 👏🏼
Me: I know 😍, he's the cutest ❤

I was laying comfy under my blanket with my back facing the door. Suddenly I heard a sound of a card opening the door followed by a loud "Gooood morning!" Which made me jump.

"Conor!!" I yelled. "What were you thinking?"

"I thought I'd surprise you with the most gorgeous view in this hotel." Conor replied and laid down next to me.

"Your morning face is the most gorgeous view in this hotel?" I raised my eyebrow.

"Of course it is, you out of all people should know that" he smirked and snuggled up close to me. I laughed and continued browsing on my phone.

"You okay again?" He asked after a while. "You seemed pretty upset yesterday.

"I'm fine. Maybe it was for the best. It proves where their loyalty's at. At least for now. What about you?" I asked concerned.

"The guys are my friends and of course it kinda hurts, but what's most important to me is how you feel." He smiled and held my hand.

I smiled back and gave him a long, sweet kiss.

When I looked to my side after a while I saw Conor had fallen asleep. I got up carefully, so he wouldn't wake him and got to the bathroom to get ready for the match.

Conor's POV
When I woke up Ash was walking out of the bathroom, all ready to go. "What time is it?" I asked sleepy, rubbing my eyes. "1:30 pm aka almost game time. Get dressed. I know you need your time to dress up" She laughed.

"Oh my goodness, I slept that long? Okay, I'll see you in 15. Wait for me at the elevator." I said pecking her cheek and running to my room.

Ashley's POV
I was on my phone for a while before walking to the elevator to wait for Conor. I thought it was so funny that he just ran out of the room. That boy sure loves his outfits. The remaining matches are gonna feel weird though. Our team just feels incomplete without the others. Thank God I still have Conor. He is the one I'd hate losing the most of all the guys.

The next game is the one-on-one. Conor's gonna play this one first. After that we'll finish the tournament together in the 2 vs 2.
They moved it from tomorrow to today since it's Christmastime.
So the one-on-one & the 2 vs 2 will be on the same day.

Tomorrow there will be a party for all the teams and organisers of the tournament. The winning team will get extra attention. Let's hope we win, that would kinda cheer me up right now with everything going on.

"Let's go. We're gonna be late." I suddenly heard Conor's voice behind me. "About time." I said and pushed the elevator button. Let's go win this thing.
