Harry was trying to find the right words as he gave us a pep talk before the Quidditch match against Slytherin; he looked slightly nervous because Ron was in the hospital wing so we had a replacement Keeper who was a complete douche bag. I just smiled at him, although I was completely crushing on him I tried to not let it show because everybody knows he has a thing for Cho and Ginny, besides him and I have been best friends since First year. So even if I told him, it would just makes this awkward between us. “Harry, calm down we’re going to do fine,” I said, as everyone else agreed with me. He sighed but grinned at me and nodded, “well you heard her! Let’s go!” he exclaimed as we walked out onto the field.
As we mounted our brooms and were off in the sky, I grabbed the Quaffle and sped off towards the other teams hoops. That’s right I’m a Chaser, as I narrowly missed a Bludger I could tell everyone’s eyes on me, even some of my teammates. I threw the Quaffle and it went through the hoop as I heard the commentary of Luna Lovegood saying “and Gryffindor just scored!” in that dreamy voice of hers, she almost reminded me of Professor Trelawney. I turned around to face my team a smile on my face; Harry was starring at me with an admiring expression, I just smiled warmly and he returned it.
The game seemed to be going good, our score coming closer and closer to being tied I knew we were all hoping Harry would catch the Snitch already, suddenly we heard a comment from Luna that made all our stomachs dropped. “Looks like Slytherin’s Seeker has already seen something Harry hasn’t” I shot Harry a hastily look as his eyes widened in fear and sped after the other Seeker (Malfoy claimed to be “sick”). The Gryffindor team stopped and watched Harry holding our breath; he’s never failed us once (unless you count when the Dementors caused him to fall off his broom) but the Slytherin team decided to take this chance and to try and score, I felt a Bludger slam into my arm, I let out a little yelp of agony but soon enough or own Beaters smacked a Bludger at the Slytherin Beater as payback. I smirked at them as I rubbed my arm.
Harry hadn’t taken his eyes off the Snitch and when he tricked the other Seeker (who sped right past it) he caught it and landed on the ground, happily holding up his arm that had the Snitch trapped in it. Our whole team sped towards Harry and collapsed him into a hug.
Back in the changing rooms, Harry and I were the only ones left. The Bludger left a huge black and blue mark on my arm that was tender to the touch. “Are you alright, Amanda?” he asked worry in his eyes, I just gave a weak smile “yeah I’m fine” he sighed in relief “good because I saw that coming, but I also had to catch the Snitch so….” he rambled on, I cut him off as he was still explaining “Harry! I’m fine” I exaggerated as I put a hand on his shoulder, he stared at me for a moment almost having to battle himself over something. “D-do you want to hang out after dinner? J-just you and me?” Harry blurted out, I was taken back a little bit as I shut my locker and gathered my stuff together. “S-sure” I stuttered a little, cussing in my head for doing so. He beamed, and used that smile that made me feel like nothing could hurt me.
We decided to meet in the common room after dinner. The only thing that confused me was if this was a date or not… I mean he said, “hang out” and for it just to be “you and me” I smiled to myself as I remembered how I saw a flash of nervousness in his amazing emerald green eyes. I was telling Hermione (who was sitting as far away from Harry and Ron as possible, she had another row with them) about what was happening after dinner. A smirk played on her lips, “what?” I ask a smirk starting to almost playing on mine. “Oh nothing” she said in an obvious tone that she knew something I didn’t, even with all the pestering I could muster up she still wouldn’t budge. But when dinner was over and we were walking back to Gryffindor Tower, she finally hinted at what she was hiding. “Let’s just say that by the end of the night you and Harry are going to be much more then friends” she winked at me as she left for the girls dormitory, shooting Ron and Lavender a disgusting look as they snogged in the corner.
“Ready to go?” Harry asked trying to sound casual from behind me, making me jump slightly he chuckled “shut up, you know I scare easily” he smirked and rolled his eyes playfully as he grabbed my hand, causing me to blush, and leading me out of the portrait hole. “So what are we doing?” I asked as we swung our interlocked hands, he just smiled as said, “you’ll see.” I frowned, and kept bothering him until he told me, but we ended up at the Quidditch field before I could keep pestering him. I frowned a little “I hope we’re not having practice I’m still beat from today’s game” I noted unlocking our hands and rubbing my bruised arm. He chuckled and merely shook his head as he grabbed my hand again and pulled me towards the stands, where he set up a blanket and butterbeer. Almost like a picnic but without the food, which was replaced with a sunset.
As the sun settled we just chatted and drank the butterbeer for a good hour and a half. Our current topic was Hermione and Ron, “I really hope they make up and stop bickering” Harry muttered into a sip of his drink, “they’ll get over it sooner or later. Ron will come to his senses” Harry looked at me confused, “what do you mean?” I raised an eyebrow at him “you don’t know?” he shook his head, I chuckled “it’s so obviously. Ron likes Hermione” Harry choked on his butterbeer, I patted him on the back “what!?” he managed to cough out. “No he doesn’t! I mean they’re always fighting how can that be” I shrugged, “love works in weird ways” then I muttered under my breath “I sure know Hermione likes him” Harry stared at me still confused by this, I just gave him a smile and took one last sip of butterbeer.
Harry lightly placed his hand on mine, but looked in a direction to make it seem like he hadn’t noticed he had done so. “Beautiful night isn’t it,” I said looking up at the stars, “yeah” he responded looking at the stars with me “but you’re more beautiful the stars themselves” I blushed; glad it was too dark for Harry to see. I stayed silent for a little bit unable to compose a proper thought in my head at the moment. Then he spoke again “Amanda… can I tell you something in confidence?” he asked, I looked at him and I see him staring back at me with those emerald green eyes that I love. “Go ahead” I smiled; he smiled slightly, then looked away for a second thinking about something then turn back and looked in the right in the eyes.
“For a while now… you have been on my mind and I… I just can’t seem to get you off it. It had been this way since we met First year. And… I have finally come to the conclusion that I’m… completely in love with you,” he said lacing my hand with his (the one he already had on top of mine). I beamed at him, “I feel the same way, Harry,” I said quietly. I could see him smiling as he slowly leaned in and placed the sweetest, sensitive, and passionate kiss on my lips. I immediately felt my body warm up, I slowly trailed my hand up his arm and it placed itself lightly on his soft cheek.
He pulled away slowly and grabbed me around the waist and pulled me closer to him, he rested his head on my shoulder and whispered in my ear “be mine?” I smirked “I’d love to” I whispered back. I felt him smirk this time, and lifted his head and kissed me tenderly.
I guess… Hermione was right. Then again I shouldn’t be too surprised.
