"Hey, wait up!" I hear a familiar voice shout down the corridor. I slow my pace letting Ryan catch up and walk beside me, he's slightly out of breath."Hey, how was prom?" I ask, knowing he wasn't looking forward to it, having to be a third wheel and stuff. Just making conversation as we walk to class.
"Awful, nothing compared to the prom I had the night before" he speaks with a grin, making me smile too.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it"
"It's gonna be pretty hard to top that you know?"
"Hmm yeah, anyway speaking of tops and things that are hard, got the house to myself tonight so you know... you should definitely come over" I leave him with that thought as we part ways into separate classrooms.
It's about half way through the day when a dull voice calls me to the principles office via tannoy. The amount of time I've been here and I've still never heard the principles assistant sound anything but miserable. I walk into the waiting area, not even getting the chance to sit down and wait as misery behind the desk points to the door. She doesn't say a word, she just points, basically telling me to go straight in. I'm greatful she didn't speak, her voice makes me want to die. I knock slightly on the door, before opening it slowly. The Principal stands up from behind his huge desk. I look to the chairs opposite to see my father sitting there. My heart sinks, dread fills every part of body, what have I done? Why is he here?
"Mr. Urie please take a seat, close the door behind you" He tells me, I do as I'm ordered and sit on the chair beside my dad, facing the principal. I smile at my father but the blank look on his face wipes away the smile quickly, they sit there quietly for a while, glaring at me. It feels like they're staring straight into my soul, I really just want someone to say something.
"Soo... Sup? " I ask, 'sup?! 'SUP?!' Are you kidding me?! You're talking to the principal and you ask 'Sup' C'mon man you could've atleast used actual words, keep it together, it wasn't that bad.
"Mr. Urie here's what's 'Sup' w-" I'm that nervous I end up interrupting him.
"It's not 'what's sup' it's 'sup' you either say 'what's up?' Or 'Sup' 'Sup' is short for 'What's up' don't say 'what's sup' you'll sound ridicu-"
"Brendon just stop talking" my dad interrupts me.
"Mr Urie here's 'what is up' w-"
"That sounds so much better you se-" I interrupt again, leading my dad to interrupt me
"Brendon!"
"Okay sorry"
"Mr. Urie, we have been made aware, by an anonymous source, that you have been spending a lot of your time with a particular student at this school"
"What?... What d'you mean by that?"
"I think he was pretty clear Brendon" my dad adds, in the snarkiest way possible. The Principal walks to the door, opening it and signaling for Ryan to come in. He closes it again, puts on some glasses and begins to read off of some paper.
"Would like to complain about a student/teacher relationship. I have seen Mr. Urie hold hands with student Ryan Ross off of school property, also caught them sharing looks with each other numerous times during classes. This m-"
"What? C'mon that's clearly made up" I interrupt again but he carries on reading.
"This morning I overheard them speaking inappropriately in the corridor in whi..."
"It's not real, I can't believe this" I stand up and begin to pace as he carries on over my denial.
"Which I heard Mr. Urie tell Ryan 'speaking of things that are hard, I have the house to myself tonight you should come over'"
"C'mon I whispered that, how did somebody hear it?!" I freeze realising what I've just said, my dad looking at me in disgust.
"So it's true Brendon, you're sleeping with this student" My father speaking this time. I look at Ryan, who's looking back at me with wide eyes.
"Yes" I let out quietly, he reacts by slamming his hand on the desk whilst hastily moving out of the chair.
"It's okay though I'm 18, it's not illegal" Ryan backs me up.
"It may not be illegal Mr. Ross but it's against all teaching policy"
"So what happens then?" Ryan asks, showing more concern than me.
"Mr. Urie is, as of now, fired and with this reputation it will be very difficult for him to get a teaching job at any school. No matter how many strings his father pulls for him" he says that last bit with a hint of sarcasm, before leaving his office, leaving me to deal with my father.
"He can't just fire you like that can he? There's gotta be someway around it right?" Ryan panic!s
"It's okay Ry, I-" I try to reassure him but my dad interrupts me.
"It's okay? No Brendon! It isn't okay, it's pretty far from okay!"
"Dad I-"
"Why have you gotta do this? Why have you gotta be like this?! Why do you have the desire to fuck everything up?!"
"He doesn't fu-"
"Nobody asked you Ryan!"
"Don't talk to him like that dad, it's not his fault"
"Oh so you're protecting your little boyfriend now?"
"No I'm just not gonna let you talk to him like trash"
"After ruining your only chance of a decent career Brendon, I'll speak to him how ever I want"
"It wasn't my only chance of a decent career"
"Come on Brendon be real for a second, you're a failure, look how many times you had to resit tests just to pass. The only thing you ever excelled at was math and that's because it came in handy for selling drugs. Do you have any idea what I had to do to get you this job, at your age and with your past. I kissed alot of ass and pulled alot of strings and for what? So you could throw it all away for sex with some kid? You'll never get a job at any school anywhere with a reputation of fucking students!"
" It's not just 'sex with some kid' I love Ryan! and I'm not gonna have a rep of 'fucking students' you're being over dramatic"
"You don't love him"
"I do, he means more to me than this career or any job for that matter. I never even wanted to teach in the first place, it's what you wanted me to do. The only reason you ever 'pulled any strings' to get me this job is so it doesn't ruin your reputation, the family's reputation, you don't give a fuck about anything else. You don't care about what makes me happy, what I want. Everything you do you do for yourself, you only say it's for others to make yourself feel better!"
"That's not true"
"I never asked you to do me any favours"
"I can guarantee you right now Brendon, you won't be getting anymore" I leave on those words of my father, simply because if I don't storm out now his face is going to meet that desk. I manage to get home and in my room before I completely break down, before anger takes over and I have another tantrum like the drunk one I had in the park that one time. I feel bad that I left Ryan there though, that was a bit of a dick move.
DRAAMMMMAAAA! finally I've been wanting the school to find out for ages ugh. What will happen next though now? What will Brendon do without a career? Will Ryan bring up the fact that Brendon yelled that he loved him without even realising. SO MANY QUESTIONS GHAAAAAAD ((STAY TUNED TO FIND OUT))
Thanks for reading fam! <3
