Tonight (10)

It's already October.
The leaves change colors.
They become orange, red, yellow, and brown,
Becoming a palette I absolutely adore.

My English class is peaceful.
I haven't uttered a thing to the girl,
My mind thinking of what she said.
Replaying it over and over
Like a cd on a record player.
Not a single event has washed over,
No spoken words,
Lost opportunities.

Until today.

My name echoes around the room
Eyes staring, heart racing
I slowly stand as if I would be blown down any second.
I sluggishly walk to the front,
Teacher guiding me over.
I see the pretty girl,
That reminds me of flowers, sunshine, and smiles,
Standing next to me awaiting something.
I gulp.

"I would like you to tutor Jade."

Her name
Jade
It rolls off the tongue,
Sounding like the name was meant for a princess.
I think of beautiful stones,
Glistening in the sunlight
Reflecting the most wondrous elements.
I think of beauty and wonder,
Stars are in my eyes.

Assignments and directions were given.
Ramblings I couldn't comprehend,
Too busy in another world.
A whole year filled with her.
Little coffee "dates",
Park scenery,
Video-games at midnight,
Stealing food from cabinets,
And laughter shared on my small couch.
She looks over at me and says,

"So, are you free tonight?"
