Falling for you

Prologue

Lauren's pov

"Lauren, this is Alejandro" My mom introduced, guiding me to some guy. "Alejandro, this is my daughter, Lauren"

"It's so nice to finally meet you, I heard nothing but how amazing you are" he smiled holding his hand out.

"..To you as well" I politely smiled, shaking his hand. "May I go to Kendra's house?"

"Yea, just a minute there's someone else I want you to meet" I rolled my eyes, and sat on the couch waiting impatiently.

"Where is she?" My mom asked Alejandro. He only shrugged, looking around. We then heard Max, my white husky, barking in the kitchen. Getting to my feet quickly I ran into the kitchen, to see what he's barking at. When I got in there I saw him growling at some girl who's up against the countertop with a spatula as a weapon.

"G-good doggy" she nervously said, looking frightened, holding the spatula out so max won't attack her. "Please help me, I'm afraid of dogs" she requested with tears in her eyes.

Seeing the look on her face of how she was frightened, I pulled max away from her, by his collar, directing him to go outside. Turning back around I see a tear roll down her cheek.

"Sweetheart, are you ok?" Alejandro asked once max was outside, running to engulf her in a tight embrace. "You're not hurt, are you?" She shook her head no.

"I'm sorry I didn't know she was afraid of dogs, if I had known I would've told Lauren to lock him up" my mom apologized, rubbing the girl's arm up and down.

"Don't apologize, it's my fault for not bringing it up" Alejandro said, releasing her from the hug.

While we waited for the girl whose name I still didn't know to calm down, my mom and Alejandro went to get some ice cream for us. Not knowing what to do with myself, I decided to head back outside and play with max. 'Bout half an hour later with playing around with max, I saw the girl standing by the door watching us. She still seemed a bit spooked by earlier today, but stayed to watch us.

"He's usually not like that, I don't know what's gotten into him, but he's really sweet and.. sorry" I apologized for max behaviour, walking to her, sitting on one of the patio furniture. "I'm Lauren, by the way"

"It's fine," she says in a low voice, if I wasn't near her then I would've missed it. "And nice to meet you I'm Camila"

"Cool name" I complimented. "He's a good dog, promise" looking away from her, I called max over. "See look, come here boy" I called out getting his attention. Max stopped chasing after his tail and ran to me, jumping up, licking my face. "Good boy" Rubbing his ears, while he still licked me, I looked back to Camila. "He's big on showing affection" I laughed, making her crack a small smile. "Do you want to pet him?"

"I don't think he likes me, though"

"Nonsense, come here" I instructed, she cautiously made her way to me, careful not to have max attention on her. "Max lay down" I ordered, he instantly obeyed. "Ok, now you come here" getting up from my seat, I walked behind Camila, resting my hand on her hip and putting the other hand on her right hand. "Ok, I'm gonna help you, rub him"

"No, no, no," she said getting out of my grasp. "Lauren, I can't"

"Sure you can, I'll be right here to help you" I encouraged. "Do you trust me?" I asked, with my hand out.
