Alexandra's POV
"Honey" I started as a form of greeting as I hugged Bob and entered the car. He had come to pick me up from the airport and was driving us to work.
"How are you? Did you have a good night's rest? He asked as he pecked me.
"The best, thanks for yesterday, you made my day" I replied gratefully.
"I was so tired after the flight, I couldn't make it back home myself. Do say thanks to the driver on my behalf, he helped me carry my stuff.""No worries" he said as we stopped at a traffic light.
"Did Rachael remember to take Luke to school this morning? I asked him as the light turned green.
"Yes, I made sure of that before I came over, he missed you".
"I know, I miss my poor baby too, I will probably pick him from school today, that is, if you allow me" I said, silently praying he would agree.
"Why not? I've told you Alex, this won't change a thing between us, the fact that you are working with me, we are still family."
"Thanks. I also remember telling that being family should not make me lazy at work".
He chuckles as he asks again "speaking about work, how was the deal?"
"Are you kidding me Bob? That should have been the first thing you asked me" I rolled my eyes at him as he grinned.
"Yeah, I know. I texted you yesterday night and you sounded good so, I guessed the deal went well."
And that...my people is just one of the reasons I love Bob, he is so caring. Besides the fact that he's so handsome and sweet, he loves family and knows God (a complete man in my books.) We worked in the same company, I mean, he's my boss.
"I know, but you only texted. Here I was thinking you missed me" I teased.
He turned to look at me, after seeing that I was joking he said "Naa, I didn't miss you one bit".
"Ouch, that hurts".
"Not my fault" he shrugged and winked as he parked into the office.
"Make sure you inform me before you go pick up Luke at school".
"Of course, you are his father after all".
He shot me a look as he grumbled "you spew out so much nonsense Alex, like you are not his mother too".
"Just kidding Bob, you are such a spoil sport" I told him and smacked him on the arm.
"Who cares? You still love me that way" he grinned cheekily.
"Trust me, that's the only reason I'm sticking around you for this long" I tell him and peck him before getting my bag and shutting the door. Before I walk away, he asks me "Are we having lunch together?
"If I'm not busy" I tell him and walk to my office.
The day passes on slowly and after a while Bob calls me to his office to talk about the deal. When he's in the office, he changes to this very serious and strict boss. He never takes a leave and only makes an exception when it involves Luke and I.
"How was the deal? Did we secure it?
"Yes Bob and here are the documents" I say, handing him the documents of the deal, he stares at it for a while before looking at me.
"Sit down Alex".
I take a sit and hope that something has not gone wrong with the document with the way his eyebrows are furrowed.
"How did you do it? He asks, a frown marring his features.
"Uh - w - what? I asked, surprised at that kind of question.
"How did you do it? He repeats.
"I just convinced him and he agreed, anything bad?
"No...it's just that I've been trying to secure this deal with him for a while and he has been proving stubborn, I'm just surprised...is all".
"Well...you didn't say enough to convince him then".
Then he suddenly breaks into a beautiful smile and tells me, holding my hand "have I told you how much of an asset you are...in my life and in my working place. You are simply the best, I'm really very grateful, thank you so much Alex".
"Awwn...stop getting all mushy on me please" I tell him in relief, knowing now that there's nothing wrong.
"This calls for celebration" he states and I smile before Katherine, Bob's secretary enters and breaks the moment, she smiles at our duo before speaking.
"Sorry guys but it's time for your meeting with the board of directors. Bob, they await your presence".
I smile at her and peck him before leaving to go to my office. I work tirelessly till it's time for lunch, which coincides with the time Luke leaves school.
I call Rachael, our nanny, and tell her not to worry about picking Luke from school as I would do so. I remembered that I promised to tell Bob before I leave to pick Luke and so I went to his office.
"Knock knock" I say and he grins.
"To what do I owe the pleasure of seeing you Lexie" he smirks, knowing I hate that nickname.
I rolled my eyes and ignore him, going straight to the point.
"I'm going to pick Luke, you coming?
"I have a meeting with someone in a few minutes".
"Actually, as of now...the meeting has just been postponed for an hour or so" Katherine interrupts our conversation.
"Alright love, let's go get him, then we'll go for lunch and then celebrate the deal" he says, getting the car keys.
In a few minutes, we get to the school and we see Luke and wave at him to notice us.
"Mummy!! He shouts and races to meet me while I stoop low and spread my arms to hug him.
"I've missed you so much baby".
"Me too mummy...I missed you... Nobody sang a lullaby to me" he complains.
"Bob? I glare at him as he scratches his neck nervously before shrugging.
"I kinda forgot" he said sheepishly
"Every day? I ask and he shrugs. I sigh in frustration as I walk with them to the car and tucked him at the back seat, helping him to put on his seat belt.
"I will buy you ice cream, so we can forget all that Daddy has done, how about that?
He nods vigorously and tells me "I like ice cream" and I take that as a yes.
"Daddy" he calls as Bob reverses out of the school's parking lot.
"I'm not playing with you again Luke, you told your mum I didn't sing for you" Bob says and frowns at his son.
"I'm sowi..." He pouts and Bob forgives him, until he says "I just can not tell a lie" he sing songs and pokes out his tongue as we laugh and Bob shakes his head.
"It's alright kiddo...I forgive you all the same".
"Okay...hurry up Bob, some of us are hungry" I remind him as he drives to a fancy restaurant.
