"What of the ice cream? Luke asked, pouting and looking at us in some weird childish way, whilst stepping out of the car.

"Love...it's time for lunch, when we finish eating, I'll buy ice cream and give you" I tell him and quickly chip in once I see I have his attention "only after you finish your homework though".

"But I hate homework" he frowns.

"Too bad honey...you won't be getting that ice cream".

"Hey" Bob glares at me "the 'honey' thing is only meant for me" he grumbles.

"Sorry 'honey' I love Luke just as much as I love you" I tell him and whisper to Luke "your father's jealous" we both laugh as Bob shakes his head at us.

"So how about that homework with ice cream? I asked Luke, coming back to the issue of his homework.

"Okay" he chirps, obviously happy about it while Bob frowns in our direction again.

"You spoil him too much" he tells me and I disagree immediately "nothing is too much for my baby" I say as the waiter arrives to get our orders.

I take my time going through their menu before answeing "Pineapple and coconut juice for my son, red wine for me and... Bob what would you have? I look at him.

"Sparkling water please, thank you" he tells the waiter.

"And the food? He asked.

"Nothing much, just give us your medium sized meal, my boy here, loves to eat" Bob tells the waiter, pointing at the meal he wants for us and ruffles Luke's hair at the same time.

My heart warmed as I looked at them, they were both good looking and Luke resembled his father. They served as a brilliant addition to the important people I called family.

The food arrives on time and I tie a napkin around Luke's neck to prevent the food from staining his clothes. Before we start to eat, Bob reminds us to pray as we hold hands and pray.

As we start eating, Bob asked how I liked the meal.

"It's okay" I tell him "I'm surprised, I haven't been here before".

"You should come here more often, they cook good food".

I smiled and was about to say something when Bob started coughing. I patted his back softly and asked if he was alright, quickly bringing the glass of water to his lips.

"Good for daddy, daddy talks when eating, bad table manners." He looked so proud of himself, I couldn't help but laugh.

I stifled my laugh as I saw Bob's face change and I tried to chastise Luke in order to salvage the comment "oh no son, you should say sorry".

"But I didn't cause it" he whines like he's being accused.

"You didn't but you should ask if i'm alright" Bob told him as Luke nodded meekly as he continued "though i'm proud of you, your table manners have improved".

"Thank you daddy" he grinned and reached from across the table to get his juice, accidentally knocking my own wine and then he started crying. I carried him immediately, trying to shush him as Bob called the attention of a waitress.

"Bullshit!!! Who made this mess? Is it that little boy? She asked, sneering at Luke, who looked mortified as he kept on crying.

"I said sorry" he sputtered.

"Sorry for yourself lad, I have told the boss not to allow parents bring little children to this place, little monkeys.... She grumbled and it was like a slap to the face as Luke continued crying and buried his head into the crook of my neck.
