20. Our little secret

Luke went on the ferris wheel, the pool, the slide, he even had several pictures taken and he had us take them together. In order to do that, I had to join him for some rides.

Oh my! I seriously couldn't understand what a little boy wanted to do on a ferris wheel.

Maybe it was thrilling for him but for me, it was a narrow death escape. I made sure we rode it once. I mean, when you see people riding it, you don't think it's a big deal until you get to the climax of the ride, the very top.

The operators had the guts to pause the wheel for a minimum of five seconds and we were at the very top! My heart was on the verge of stopping and my legs were shaking nonstop when we got down. Luke couldn't stop laughing.

I think I'm going to talk to Bob about changing his school. I mean, where else could he have gotten such courage and adventurous spirit from? It's definitely not me and of course not Bob who has been ill for a while.

I think I might be exaggerating this a bit but I really can't be blamed. I guess I shouldn't allow my fear of heights stop my son from having fun but I'm thoroughly considering spanking him, especially if he continues laughing at me over the ride.

By the time we got to the room, Bob was almost done dressing up.
"Aha! I was just about coming to get you both. What took you so long?" He asked just as we entered. I gave him a brief summary but I could tell Luke wanted to divulge all the details later on to his father.

"Did you need something? And how do you feel now?" I came around him to see his face clearly.
"I feel brand new" he grinned and spread out his arms, making me roll my eyes.
"And no, I don't need anything. I just wanted us to watch the movie together."

"What movie?" I asked in surprise that he knew a movie was going to be showing this evening.
"I don't know. I just saw it in the pamphlet over there." He pointed at the wardrobe and true to his words, the pamphlet Barbara shared was right there.

"Was Barbara here?" I asked without thinking and clamped my hands over my mouth immediately.
"I'm sorry, who?" Bob looked lost.
"Don't mind me. I just thought our tour guide came to drop it off here." I explained, making me laugh.

"Are you jealous?" I rolled my eyes with the question. "Anyway" he continued "these pamphlets are practically everywhere here. I even saw it at the reception."
"Oh" I nodded, thinking I must have missed that.
"So, will you be coming with Luke and I?" I thought about it for a while and decided my sleep could wait.

"Yeah, just give me some few minutes to freshen up. You'll run a bath for Luke right?"
"Yeah, you go ahead."
"By the way" I asked "how do you want us to do it? Get dinner before going for the movie?"
"No need, we have the popcorn and drinks for that."
"Yeah but have you had anything to eat all day?"

"Okay! Enough with the questions and off you go." He shooed me out the door.
"Bob!"
"What? I wasn't hungry, alright!" He sighed "see, I'll have popcorn and drinks for dinner, that's okay." He concluded, giving me no room for negotiations.

I went to my room and hoped he was alright. Maybe I'm just being paranoid but things have been so calm for a long while now that it seems unnatural.

"Wait, it just occurred to me. Why are we leaving now when the movie is by six?" I asked him once I was done freshening up and ready to go. I looked at the time and saw that I was not mistaken. The time was indeed five p.m.

"You see...Miss Alex, there's something called the perfect position to watch a movie." He stated, exuding so much confidence, making me look at him, at a loss for words.
"I'm sorry, what?!" I blinked again and he proceeded to explain.

"When you board a plane, you're assigned a seat number. In a cinema, there are no seat numbers so we get to decide. Now from experience, I've learnt that the middle of the theatre is exactly where all the action takes place."

"Are you kidding me?" I shook my head in disbelief, wondering where he got such nonsense from. I decided to let go before it turned into a full blown argument. We got the popcorn with drinks and went into the theatre for the movie to start.

Somehow, I fell asleep in between the movie, not that it was boring or anything but I was tired. Bob managed to wake me up after it finished and with his help, I got to my room and was out in seconds.

The next morning, I suggested that we hit the Spa just before breakfast and the treatment was nothing short of amazing. I got a massage that lasted for almost three hours because they wanted the things they put on our bodies to get soaked in.

Everyone had to go through the facials for my sake, I wasn't going to allow them leave without me and it was so funny seeing cold cucumber on their eyes. We took pictures at every stage.

When they started massaging our feets, Luke got hungry so we ordered something light for free again! I was having the time of my life! Then I waxed and had them waiting for me in a bathtub; they slept off.

My the time I was done, I was feeling like a soon-to-be bride and the feeling was wonderful. I sent some pictures to Emma and she in turn sent me pictures of her with my dad, having lunch.

Later on, we went to check the library and Luke fell asleep again. I feel like he's going to have an adventurous spirit when he's much older because he gets bored easily. I found a few books I liked but they weren't for sale so I borrowed them till we left there.

Bob found a book on mystical creatures or something, I have no idea what he needs that for. The next one day was pretty much the same only that Bob finally agreed to take Luke to the amusement park.

Bob had refused taking him there because he apparently was awake after the movie we watched that day. Bob wouldn't forgive me for letting him play at the amusement park that much, much less for allowing him take so many sweet things.

Luke tried the day after to get us to take him to the park  but Bob was adamant until he got bribed to do so with the story of my fear of the ferris wheel. I was so disappointed in Luke, I thought it would be 'our little secret' but, I guess not.
