"Are you ready now? I asked Luke once I was done helping him to get dressed. He looked at himself in the mirror and beamed at me, nodding his head at the same time.
"Okay..." Next, I dragged our boxes and went to check on Bob in his room. Not surprisingly, his door was open - I knocked a little before entering.
"Bob..." I grumbled as I saw him still trying to pack his box "you should have done this since yesterday."
"Yeah I would have but I was tired" he frowned at me.
"Yeah?" I asked "so why didn't you ask me to help you out?"
"I didn't want to stress you. Just give me a minute and I'll be done." I rolled my eyes "okay, you - are - so - lucky I have no idea where we're going if not I would have left you" he smirked at me "okay I'm done now."
He zipped his box and grinned at his son "little man, you are excited."
"Yes...do you like my shirt Daddy?
"It's perfect. Come on" he urged us and collected my box from me, leaving me with only Luke's box and our snack bag.
"We are dropping by at Rachael's place to hand her the key right?" I asked as we went down the stairs.
"Yeah" he answered. I stayed behind to lock the door whilst Bob got into the car and strapped Luke to the backseat. Soon enough, we dropped the key by Rachael's house and were on our way. As we moved, I checked for some songs on the radio and couldn't find anything to my liking.
"You don't like all of those songs?" Bob asked me in amusement.
"What's so funny? I frowned at him "I'm a little hard to please when it comes to songs." He laughed "songs? Or every thing in general?"
"Surely you don't mean that?" I asked in doubt and he laughed.
"Don't worry, we'll soon get to our first stop" he assured.
I looked at our surroundings and realised it looked familiar.
"Uhh Bob?"
"Any problem?" He asked on noticing my frown.
"I seriously think I'm about to spoil your surprise."
"Really? Why?"
"I don't know - I mean, I can't really figure out where we are but everything around us looks so familiar." I told him with my eyes glued to the window.
"Well...maybe you'll confirm it once we get there" he smiled and kept on driving as I looked back at Luke and saw him looking round too.
"That's a huge stone!" He muttered in awe, gluing his face to the window at the back seat. Bob and I laughed "darling, that is a mountain."
"Can we go and touch it?"
"Not now son but later on...we'll be going mountain climbing."
"Really Bob?" I clapped in excitement, a smile brightening my face.
"Sweetheart, I am about to give you an adventure you may or may not have experienced before."
"I can't wait!!!" I squealed.
"Me too!" Luke squealed after me.
"Alright people! We are here." I adjusted in my seat immediately and unbuckled my seatbelt as I looked around me and once I saw the restaurant we had stopped in front of, a light bulb went on in my head.
"Now I remember how I know this place! Prince has brought me here before!" I exclaimed.
"I know... I wanted to see somewhere you had been to eat before, somewhere out of my environment and he brought me here" he told me.
"Aha...so this is what had you and Prince in a contract for so long" I mused.
"He said you like their food? Tell me I didn't make a mistake."
"Yeah...I do like their food and the environment here is so natural, so homey and cool. I think you'd love it and of course you didn't make a mistake" I smiled encouragingly at him.
"I would have taken us somewhere else cause Prince showed me some of your very good spots around here but it's the only one along the way to where we'll be having our vacation."
"It's fine" I assured him.
"Can I come out now? Luke asked us wide eyed and I laughed "sure, can you unbuckle your seat belt yourself?
"Yes mummy" he grinned at me "I'm a big boy now."
"Of course" I smiled brightly at him "you are a big boy now." I opened the car and got down to meet Bob, waiting for Luke to take his sweet time in getting down.
Once Bob locked the car, we entered the restaurant and several memories of Prince and I in this same place, were fighting to surface but I pushed it down. I tried to tell myself that I am currently here with Bob and Luke and I had to show them a good time, however little.
Once we entered and a waiter approached, Bob turned to Luke and I "you don't mind us going to eat outside right? I have always wanted to eat at the beach." I shook my head, signifying that I was alright with it and Luke said same.
A table had been set there already and as we sat down and got a hold of the menu, Bob informed me that he would have ordered but he wanted to know what I would have picked.
"Uhm...let's see" I leafed through the menu and thought about the number of times I had come here with Prince. I didn't come with him often but I had checked it out a few times on my own and I liked their lunch super pack best but then it was still very early in the morning, so I listed off a list of some finger foods for them to bring.
Once they brought the foods, we began eating. Bob and I engaged in small talk, nothing serious since Luke was looking at us and smiling. I could tell the picture forming in his head through those smiles - the picture of a perfect family and I didn't want to break it.
I didn't really like the current setting though, I think it would have been better if we ate here at night, under the stars, with a slow song playing in the background but then it's Bob's idea not mine and he'll be heartbroken if I say I didn't really fancy us seated by the water very early in the morning - especially when it's kind of cold.
When Luke started sneezing, Bob said we'd had enough and thankfully I was also done eating. Once we settled our bills and entered the car, Bob put on the heater immediately and after about thirty minutes, Luke went back to sleep.
Bob and I hadn't really spoken since he woke up from his coma. I'm not sure why but I think it's because it's real, now more than ever that Bob may not be staying with us long and I didn't want us to argue over anything.
Last moments everybody...precious last moments😁😁. Have you ever wished for a chance to say a proper goodbye to those you've lost? Alex has that chance now🤗. Maybe that'd be enough to keep Bob breathing awhile🥂.
