A/N
Just to be clear, Frost, Crystal and Leyla brought backpacks with them, so that means they brought extra clothes (Pixal made Leyla new clothes since she wasn't able to bring her own when the Shadows first attacked) and stuff. Only Jason and Jia are the ones who doesn't have extra set of clothes. But in this chapter, they're still wearing the same clothes of what I last mentioned they were wearing. Just bear with me on this. Also, Leyla is now wearing a lime colored t-shirt, jeans and combat boots. If you guys have questions, feel free to ask. I won't judge. I'm kinda confused with the story myself. XD~*~*~
Frost opened his eyes to find himself staring at the orange-ish color of the morning sky. He must've fallen asleep while stargazing.
He sat up and looked around. They set up camp somewhere near the edge of Crashcourse Canyon so that the Shadow Warriors won't find them easily. Luckily, they weren't that far from Ninjago City.
Frost stood up (he was laying on his jacket) and dusted his white t-shirt and pants. He looked at his friends who were all still asleep.
Jia was sleeping near a huge rock wall and Jason was beside her, snoring. Near the campfire lay Crystal, who was sleeping on her jacket. Beside her was an empty space where Leyla slept last night.
Frost checked his internal clock. 6:00 a.m. "Why would Leyla be up this early?" He asked himself.
He scanned the area and found footprints on the sand that lead behind the rock wall. He picked up his jacket and followed the track onto the side of the wall of rock.
There were makeshift stairs that lead to the top of the wall. Frost began to climb and he heard grunts once he neared the top.
There he saw Leyla practicing with her sword. She was pretty good. Her movements were smooth yet agile.
Frost watched the young girl for a moment, seeing that she hasn't acknowledged his presence yet.
Leyla finished her series of moves with a high kick. Frost clapped, startling the descendant of energy, making her turn in a defensive stance. But when she saw that is was Frost, Leyla relaxed.
"Easy there. I'm not the enemy." Frost joked as he walked over to Leyla with his hands up in a joking way.
Leyla smirked at her friend. "Who turned your funny switch on?" She asked as she put her sword back in its sheath.
"I don't have a funny switch," Frost said with a smile.
Leyla just smiled at him. "Why are you up so early?" She then asked after a moment of silence.
"I could ask you the same thing." Frost replied, standing a few meters from her. "The sun is not even up yet."
"My dad and I usually wake up at this time to practice when I was young," Leyla smiled at the memory as she turned to face the cliff. "Sometimes, before the sun rises, we go up a mountain to meditate and watch the sunrise."
"I do that too with my dad," Frost smiled as he stood beside her. "He teaches me hand-to-hand combat. And afterwards, we climb the biggest tree to watch the sunrise from behind the distant mountains."
"Looks like our dads have something in common," Leyla said, an idea popping in her mind. "Hey, wanna spar?"
The android looked at her with a confused look. "Why'd you ask?" He asked.
Leyla shrugged. "I just wanna see your moves." She said. "Is little Frosty scared to be beaten by a girl?"
"No, I'm not." Frost pouted jokingly. "And I told you I hate being called Frosty."
