I saw Charlotte, standing there looking at me with a surprised expression. Shit! What didn't this little girl know? I pushed the girl that I was dancing with to the side gently.
"Daughter? Oh hell naw. And you thought you was gonna take me home? HA!" the girl said, rolling her neck before prancing off.
Everyone was left looking at me. Most of the people that were watching had pulled out their phones, recording the whole scene. I trembled in nervousness; my knees could buckle almost.
"U-Uh... I gotta go."
I hauled Charlotte out of the club with me. As soon as we got out to the front, I spun her around, meeting eyes with hers.
"How in the world did you find me here?" I said.
Seriously, how is this girl so smart?
"I used my iPad. I just typed your number into the tracking app I have and I called a cab to take me to you." she said, smiling.
I shook my head, rubbing my face in stress. "I think you and I both have had enough for one day. Let's just... go home."
I gave my ticket to the valet and waited for my car to come.
I unlocked the door, walking inside. Charlotte was sprawled out in my arms sleeping. I closed the door softly, being careful not to wake her up. I walked up the stairs, then walking into the guest room, flicking the light on. I went over to the bed and pulled back the covers. I laid her in the bed, positioning her so that she was confortable enough to keep sleeping. I pulled the covers over her and before I could leave, I just had to get a final glimpse of her. She's my daughter. I can't believe that I have a daughter. Not only was she my daughter, but she was a piece of Kylie. She reminded me so much of her. Everything she did, I saw Kylie all over. I watched as she peacefully slept, her chest heaving up and down with her soft breaths. I leaned down, placing a soft kiss on her forehead. I walked out of the room, turning off the lights.
I woke up the next morning, smelling something cooking. I looked over at my digital alarm clock, seeing that it was 8:15. I pulled the covers back on the bed and slipped out of bed. I went into the bathroom, washing my face and brushing my teeth. I gotta stay fresh before going in the space of others. I walked out of my room, walking across the hall to the guest room. I opened the door seeing that Charlotte wasn't there. I closed the door back, walking down the steps past the foyer. I went into the kitchen to see Charlotte sitting on the Bistro chair and Jeffrey standing next to her.
"And I like to dance too!" Charlotte said, with her mouth full with food.
"Well, that is quite the hobby, Ms. Charlotte."
Jeffrey looked up and nodded towards me, causing Charlotte to look back and smile.
"Hi, daddy."
"Hey, Char. I see you've gotten to know Jeffrey a little." I said, smirking.
"Yep." she said, popping the "p".
"Mr. Brown, I've made some breakfast for you also. It is sitting in the microwave." Jeffrey said.
"Thanks, Jeffrey."
I went over to the microwave, taking out my plate. I sat in the bistro chair next to Charlotte and began to eat. Just as I was eating, I felt my phone vibrate, it was my manager, Kerri.
"Hello?" I spoke with my mouth full.
"Chris, I know this is sort of last minute and all, but VH1 has called and wanted you to come on the show to be interviewed. It' at 2:30 this afternoon." she said.
I looked at Charlotte, who was too busy, eating her food. I was afraid that if I went, Charlotte would try to intervene on that, but I couldn't reject this because I would be getting paid for my appearance. Eh, I'll just bring her with me and have her sit in the green room while I did the interview.
"Alright. I'll do it." I confirmed.
"That's my boy. Okay, the limo will be around to your house by 12. Ciao!"
I hung up the phone, stuffing it back in my pocket.
"What are you going to do, daddy?" Charlotte asked with a confused face.
"I have to go do a interview today. You're gonna come with me but please, no intervening in anything, okay?"
"Yes, daddy. I won't this time." she replied.
We arrived at the VH1 Studios building. I climbed out of the back seat of the limo, getting out the car with Charlotte. I saw Kerri standing in front of the building, typing on her Blackberry. She looked up at me and smiled. Then her eyes trailed down to Charlotte and a frown filled her whole expression,
"U-Um... Who is this?" Kerri said.
"This is my daughter, Charlotte. Charlotte, this is my manager, Ms. Kerri."
"Hi! You're really pretty." Charlotte said, grinning innocently.
Kerri blushed, obviously feeling flattered by the comment.
"Ohhhh.... thank you, babygirl. You're adorable!" Kerri said, reaching her hands down to Charlotte's cheeks. She gave both of them a small pinch, causing little temporary red spots to form on them.
Kerri came towards me, pulling me to the side so Charlotte couldn't hear anything she was about to say.
"When did you have a child? By who?" Kerri said through clenched teeth.
"Apparently, I got my deceased girlfriend pregnant before I became famous. It's a surprise to me too. I just discovered this yesterday." I explained.
"Whoa. She didn't tell you she was pregnant?" she asked.
I shook my head. "Charlotte told me that she wanted to keep it a secret from me because I was working on becoming famous."
"Wow... you had a considerate girl, Breezy." Kerri said, soaking everything that I said.
"Well, let's get in and get you straight to the dressing room."
"Welcome back to Brunch Club, I'm your host, Bryan Jetts. We are here with R&B's own, Chris Brown. So, Chris... TMZ has posted pictures of you on their site. Not only you, but a little girl that seems to be unknown. The caption of the picture says, 'Daddy Breezy'. Care to explain?"
My heart began to pound. What was I going to say?
