Hey, hey!

Sorry for the long wait! I know I said I'd be giving you guys more chapters earlier but unfortunately life is super crazy right now (isn't it always?). Final exams and assessments are due soon and I've just been so busy!

I do hope to have another chapter up within the next two weeks though! Thank you all for being so patient! Fear not! I am alive ;)

"Waiting for us?" Damien steadily repeated, his harsh, icy gaze focused on Isaac.

"Yeah," Isaac suddenly stepped to the side and gestured to the bunker with a half grin. "We've captured the hybrid and we need you to interrogate her," he responded, glancing at the men with gun around him. "Sorry we brought the cavalry. Xavier will eventually try to reclaim the source of his increased power so we have to be cautious."

"Why do you want me to do that?" Damien suspiciously asked and I unconsciously found myself wanting to move closer to him.

"Because you know her, of course. She trusts you. I need you to find out what you can about the death of Lisa –your sister- before we kill the hybrid," Isaac pressed, staring expectantly at Damien with eyes so cold and void of emotion, I felt a shudder race down my spine.

"Yeah, okay," Damien nodded and even though he was doing well to control his emotions in front of his superior, I could tell he wasn't pleased with the situation. "I'm taking Juliet along. A female, human presence might calm her down too. Is she in the main holding cells?" Damien asked and Isaac nodded, already distractedly looking to his men.

"I'll get Isabella to collect you after I've addressed a few security issues along our borders," Isaac stated, waving us off as he began to sternly lecture the Hunters surrounding us. Without hesitating, Damien began to stalk toward the entrance, his expression giving nothing away.

As soon as we both dropped into the compound, Damien and I wordlessly hurried down the quiet hallways. When he stopped in front of the kitchen, he gestured inside and I immediately followed his silent instructions, already knowing what it was he wanted to do.

I quickly took out a packet of instant mashed potato and after microwaving it, I plopped it onto the plate Damien held out. Then, once I'd dished out a spoon from one of the many drawers, I scrambled after Damien to the holding cells. After he gently pushed me inside, he cast a cautious, stern glance around the empty, white corridor before firmly shutting the door behind him.

Slowly, while I held my breath, I carefully took the keys from the hook beside the door and spun around to face the silver, prison bars, unable to stop myself from trembling as my eyes found the dark-haired girl crumpled and unmoving on the cold, hard ground.

Carefully, I sidled toward her and tentatively unlocked the cell, jumping slightly when Damien covered my quivering hand with his own steady one.

"She won't hurt you," he quietly promised, gazing tenderly into my eyes as he gently took the keys from my fingers. I gave him a half smile in return and nodded, glancing back over at the hybrid as I swallowed.
