Stacy led the way inside. Instead of heading to the kitchen to greet her mom, she headed down the stairs towards the basement. Matt followed silently, admiring the expanse of her home. The house had a commanding presence, hinting at the depth of Stacy’s preparations.

At the bottom of the stairs, Stacy opened a door to a small, dimly lit room. The room was filled with an array of monitors, keyboards, and control panels. One click of a mouse, and the screens flickered to life, displaying real-time feeds from cameras strategically placed around her property.

“Welcome to the nerve center,” Stacy said with a touch of pride.

Matt’s eyes widened as he took in the array of feeds. Each monitor displayed different angles of her property—both outside and inside. Cameras scanned the perimeter, the gates, and even various points inside the house. The clarity and number of the cameras were impressive.

“Wow,” Matt said, clearly impressed. “You really thought of everything.”

Stacy nodded, her expression a mix of satisfaction and concern. “I had to. With everything going on, I needed to know exactly what’s happening around here at all times. Each camera has motion sensors, so I get alerts if anything moves. And the system archives footage, so I can review any suspicious activity later.”

Matt leaned closer to one of the screens. “I see the cameras at the front gate, but what about the back?”

Stacy pointed to a monitor showing the backyard. “I have cameras there too. There are also infrared sensors around the perimeter. They’ll alert us if anyone or anything tries to breach the property, even in the dark.”

She pulled up a split-screen view showing various angles of the main house and the surrounding grounds. “I also have live feeds from the camera drones I use for patrolling the area. They’re equipped with night vision and thermal imaging, so we can spot any threats even if they’re hiding.”

Matt marveled at the technology. “This is amazing. It must have taken a lot of work to set all this up.”

“It did,” Stacy admitted. “But it’s worth it. I wanted to make sure we’re safe and secure, no matter what happens.
