I felt as if the biggest, coldest wall hit me head on. I just sat there, all of the trees and patchy make-shift roads were the same as they were before.

Jake had crouched down beside me, and I looked over at him with wide eyes,  looking for the words; or even the air to breathe.

He held out his hand and I slowly took it as tears slowly  dripped down my face as the pack-members roamed and stood in awe.

He led me to the far end of the property, wiping my tears here and there before stopping at the doorstep of the big house, from my memory.

He opened the door and I stepped inside, walking across the tiled floor, I traced my hand on the marble island in the kitchen, expecting something miraculous to happen.

"This feels unreal."

He still stood in the doorway, as if he were weary of saying or doing anything.

I walked over to the staircase and stopped at the top, the smells seeping through these walls  were homely.

He soon joined behind me, and I walked to the very last door on the right, opening it softly.

The room was much like Jake's room back at the base, but larger. There was a door that led out onto the balcony, and next to the door was the walk in closet. I took a few steps forward and the bathroom was on the far left.

A love-seat sat beside the balcony door, and the bed was sideways against the wall, the sheets and blankets all jumbled about.

"I haven't slept here since." He referred to it as if I was under the impression it wasn't a mission, an attack for that matter.

"What happened to me."

"I can't tell you, Kai." He went to touch my arm and I ripped it from his grasp and turned to face him.

"Tell me."

"Kai."

"Jake tell me! I know it wasn't an accident!", I was angry, not necessarily at him, but I was angry at myself and I needed answers.

He looked sort of shocked at my reaction and gave me this look of confusion before relaxing his expression. I began to get worked up and upset and I turned away from him, crossing my arms over my chest.

"We live in a world, that have 3 parts of a whole; humans, werewolves, and vampires." I turned to look at him as he ran a hand through his hair he sat on the bed, and I crawled on too.

"Vampires and wolves have never got on well, our views on life and morals were drastically different, we never saw eye to eye. Since the beginning of time we've hated each other. Hence the council was created. Two wolves, and two vampires, and one human. They watch over to make sure everything is in order. There is a clan that our pack has struggled with for a long time. Before I met you, Nathan, the Frost clan descendant, felt like he had some sort of ownership over you. Thankfully I found you in time and brought you home. Before Mark found us, we fought for you. We kept you safe."

He held my hand and squeezed it lightly. "It took a while for Mark to hear about our situation, he said we had skills that could be used for the greater good, and he promised protection over our pack. I wasn't surprised when Nathan had found out our location. He came back in bulk. We had to flee the base, at the time it wasn't as reinforced as it is now. As we were leaving they had acquired silver bullets, which are very deadly to us,"

"He lunged at you and in the process you broke your leg and the others were covering us before I passed out and I don't know how you hurt your head. I woke up 3 days later because of the energy drained from the silver."

I got what I wanted. But I hated every bit of it.

"Is that who broke my arm?".

"Yes."

"Why does he want me?"

"He thinks he's claimed you first." his face was stern and his jaw was clenched.

I ran my fingertips along his jaw, looking down at his mouth for a split second before looking back into his eyes. "That's not true, is it?"

He took a deep breath, leaning closer ever so slightly, "We were destined since birth. He can't take that away. Nothing else matters to me." He cupped the side of my face before bringing me close and kissing me gently, pulling at my bottom lip.

Lit up my whole day.

Jake.
