It's been about a year. A year since I stood up to my father, a year since I came out, a year since I've been free.

Me and Ian are still together, we barely leave each others side. And just like he had promised me, we both graduated two months ago. I even got into college. College, me. Something I never would have thought to happen. We applied to colleges together and got into the same one. Fiona said we could stay here as long as we were still in school but we decided to move into the dorms instead since it was covered by our financial aid and loans. It'll practically be like living together since we're in the same dorm room which I couldn't be happier about. Ian decided to go for a degree in paramedics and I decided to go for mechanics. Something about messing with cars always seemed to calm me. We even got jobs to have some extra money. Ian started helping around Kevs bar and I work security there. Things had started falling into place, finally.

"Daydreaming?" Ian asks me behind the fence. He climbs up and over into the dugout with me, taking a seat on the bleachers at my side.
"Been looking for you." He tells me.

"Been here." I reply, pointing out to the field.

"You alright?"

"Yeah, just thinking back on the last year."

"Happy about it?"

I stare at him for a minute and smile. How can he not think I'm not happy about it.
"Beyond that." I tell him because it's true. I'm beyond happy how this last year has been. I would do it all again if I had to. So I tell him that, tell him how I feel - something I'm still getting use to.
"You're the best thing that ever happened to me y'know and I'd do it all again if it meant being with you." I smile and watch his cheeks turn red as I knew they would. It's my favorite thing about telling him how I feel.

He kisses my forehead and smiles again.
"I love you, Mick."

"I love you, too, Gallagher."

Fin.
