Safe for Now....

Chapter 7: A New Beginging

We needed to go shopping.  We had no other clothes on our backs. Zara and Sydney couldn't go to school with the same clothes every day.  So I took us all shopping.  I dropped Seth off in the boys department and took Sydney and Zara to find some clothes. Zara and Sydney wanted to make a good first impression on their future classmates. They wanted to wear a dress for their first day of school. Zara found a beautiful baby blue cloth dress with yellow flowers on it. It had straps that tied around her neck. This wasn't within the schools dress code so I told her if she wanted it she had to wear a white crop top jacket or shaw . She agreed and went to pick out one that was short sleaved. Sydney on the other hand picked out a dress she could wear without a shaw or cropped jacket. It was a navy blue cloth dress with white flowers on it.

After they satisfied themselves with their dresses I told Zara and Sydney to find some regular clothes for school. They did so, and I aproved it ok for them to wear to school. I put all their stuff in the cart then lead them to my department. I still had to get myself some other clothes to wear. I hope our mother didn't feel so overwellemed and busy all the time. I kind of feel bad for our mother now. Even if she's used to it now it can't be easy. I have been feeling kind of sad lately. I feel like I am replacing our mother. Especially for Zara and Sydney. Yes, I know mother would want Zara and Sydney to have a good education and life without her. I just don't feel right trying to fill her shoes. She really was a great mother.

After I found some clothes for myself I went to find Seth. He had got all sorts of clothes for himself and threw them in the cart when we found them. Zara and Sydney showed him their pretty dresses and he just smiled and said they were beautiful. Then we headed for the checkout line. It wasn't very long, but it wasn't very short either.

"Wow, What are you kids doing, making a whole new wardrobe?" The checkout lady asked.

"Actually yes." I say.

"Well why on earth would you want to do that? It can be very expencive." The lady said.

"We don't have any other clothes." I admit to her.

"Yeah, they were all destroyed." Zara chimed in.

"Well that's terrible. Are you kids here with your mother?" She asks.

"No mam. Out mother was killed yesturday I believe or two days ago." Seth said. I could tell he didn't want to go into detail about how long it had been. He doesn't even want to think about it.

"Well that's terrible. Are you here with your father then?" She asks.

"No." I say a little to harsh. "Our father left us a long time ago. We haven't seen him since and I at least don't care to."

"Why? What has he done so cruel to you?" she asks.

"I just told you he left us. He is an alcoholic and stole money from our mother. He is useless and I don't care to know him." I say.

"Oh you poor things. Here let me pay for some of this." She says.

" Oh please you don't have to." I say.

"Oh but i want to." She says. "Buy the way my name is Linda. If you need help with anything you can give me a call or come see me I'll be glad to help."

"Nice to meat you Linda. I'm Alice and this Seth, Zara, and Sydney." I say. "Oh there is something I would like to ask you."

"And what would that be?" She asks.

"Do you know if any store around here is highering? Like highering fourteen year olds. Because I really need a job to be able to pay for Zara and Sydney's school and eventually Seth's to." I say.

"Well you can work right here." Linda says.

"Will it be alright with your boss." I ask.

"Why yes. I am the owner. If I'm saying it then I hope I agree with myself." She says then we laugh. "Can you start next week?"

"Well when does my shift start because they just start school next week and we are moving into our new apartment to so I'm not sure when I can get in." I say.

"Just get here as soon as you can. I know what it's like to lose a parent at a young age. I know you are going through some hard times and I'm glad to help." Linda says.

"Thank you." I say.

I payed my new boss and we left for the hotel. When we walked in the door Zara and Sydney collapsed on their bed. It had been a long day. Between the boat ride yesturday and the beach and shopping today, I'm not surprised they aren't tired. It was later than I thought to. We skipped lunch and it was already dinner time. I brushed out my hair and changed into some new cloths we bought. I got Seth, Zara, and Sydney to do the same. Even though we were all tired we had to go eat something. Room serves is to expencive for us right now so I took us to the near by Chick-Fil-A. It has been Zara and Sydney's favorite place to eat since they were three.

After eating it was close to eight oclock. By the time we got back to the hotel it was eight. Zara and Sydney fell on their bed and went to sleep. It has been a long day and it was close enough to their bedtime. Seth and I soon followed their lead. It was a peacful sleep to no horrible nightmares or worries. In fact it was the complete oposite, I had a good dream. Sydney and Zara happy at theit new school and they made a new friend. She was always happy, making my sisters always happy to. I liked seeing them happy so this dream may have made me the happiest person alive.
