Sid was now on the 50. Grinder was super anger at Ballence. I said calm down he is only 18. Grinder said Ack Ack shut up. So I said fine and started moving forward. We were told there would be minimal restiance. Intelligence is always wrong. As soon as the first Sherman got within 200 feet of the village it blew up. Sid open up on the 50 and all 4 remaining tanks opened up. We advanced with Grinder yelling move! Move! Bullets were whizzing around until I saw the first German. I squeezed off 2 shots and he fell face first onto the ground. Simmons said nice shot and sprinted off.
I kept open up on the 50 while more of our boys stormed in. After one of them radiod back it was cleared we moved up. A well hidden German mg open up. Killing 2 men. I open up, I tore the wall to shreds. Then the Sherman opened up with the main cannon. It blew a gaping whole in the building. Then I saw a wounded soldier. I scanned around. I saw no one so I ran at him. Right before I got there a bullet struck right beside me. Ack Ack yelled, Get down! Sniper! All the hatches in the tanks closed. I layed there next to a dead German until another soldier got hit. Straight through the chest. He fell forward dead. Simmons said there in that building at the end of road. The tanks aimed at it. Then boom! The building was reduced to rubble. Then Grinder sent up the all clear flare. We set out into groups of 6. We walked through the rubble. Then we set up a camp. We dug in. Our orders had changed now we held the village until tommorow. The defense was set up. We were ready.
