Chapter Six

"You're dead meat!" Clarisse popped out with her lackeys.

"Shoot." I said aloud, although a different word was going through my mind. I looked at Percy.

"What do we do?" I asked.

"Run?" He sounded nervous, so I patted him on the back.

"I don't think so." Clarisse said, advancing on us.

"Oh gods. We're so totally screwed."

"Probably." Percy said.

"Actually, no, we'll beat her butt." I ran forward and pinched her arm before running back to Percy. Her face contorted into one's much like a hog.

"Hey!" She raised her spear and Percy brought up his sword. I pulled my weapon out, although it felt feeble compared to theirs. I held Zaroc across my body in a defensive position. Clarisse charged forwards and I quickly stepped out of the way, leaving Percy alone against her. I promise it was unintentional.

I hid in the bushes as I watched Percy get beat up. Sure, I felt like a bad friend but... then I decided I should probably help him. I stepped out and attacked Clarisse with a battle cry.

"AAARRRGGHH!!!!!" I held my knife up and tried to stab her but I only managed to graze her shoulder. Finally, Percy and I were both pretty battered up on the ground as Luke ran past with the opposing team's flag.

"Yeah!" I said half-heartedly. My arms were sore, and so were my legs, and head, and, well my whole body was sore. I luckily had enough strength to sit up. Percy managed stand up into the creek as Annabeth approached us.

"What's up." I said but she ignored me.

"Nice fighting." She commented to Percy.

"You set us up!" He exclaimed. "You knew me and Lexi would distract Clarisse while you and Luke got the flag."

"Athena always has a plan." She said slyly.

"Rude." I muttered but no one seemed to hear me.

"A plan to get us pulverized?" Percy asked.

"I came as fast as I could, but you guys didn't need any help." She looked at Percy's arm. "How did you do that?"

"Sword cut. What do you think?

"No it was a sword cut." She said. "Look at it."

The blood from his arm disolved and the cut began to heal itself.

"I-I don't get it." Percy said.

"Neither do I." I stated, I was staring as his wounds slowly dissappeared.

"Step out of the water, Percy." Annabeth told him.

He stepped out of the creek and instantly he looked tired and worn down. The look on Annabeth's face suggested that this wasn't a good thing. She started to say something but that was soon forgotten.

A large black beast appeared out of a fire.

"HELLHOUND!" I heard someone yell.

"Well that doesn't sound good." I said.

"Someone from the camp let it in." Chiron said. The Hellhound was struck with arrows until it fell dead at Percy's feet. Luke walked over, the banner in his hands forgotten. I still sat on the ground.
