Chapter 4 - Someone to Talk To

I was left all alone at the mall, so I went to Mcdonalds to buy something to eat. I felt lonely without Kath. I was lining up to order some food when someone suddenly shouted my name, "Seth!" I looked around but I didn't see anyone calling me. "Hey Seth!" I looked around and saw Natasha. Natasha is one of my closest friends too, we studied from the same school since middle school. She's a nice person and loves to collect and read books.

"Oh hey Natasha!" I greeted her.

"Hey Seth! Are you with someone?" She asked.

"Naaah, want to eat with me?" I asked.

"Yey sure! By the way, where's your best friend Kath?"

"She's out on a date" I replied.

"Kath? With who?!" She seems surprised.

"With that douche named Johnny."

"Really? Woah! I didn't expect that, since when were they together?" She asked.

"No, they're not actually 'together' they're only out on a friendly date" I replied.

"Oh I see..." She said.

"Anyway, how are you Tasha? Still having that big obssession with books?"

She chuckled, "Yep, same old Tasha"

We laughed.

After we finished eating, Tasha and I went to a bookstore (as expected) and we talked about books.

"Have you read The Fault in Our Stars?" Tasha asked.

"yes, but I just started reading it 2 weeks ago" I replied.

"Good. I won't spoil it to you, but if you're too sensitive it will make you cry"

"Well sorry, but I'm not a sensitive gay like you girls."

"Whatever Seth. Just finish reading the story. Let's just see if you'll cry or not. And hey, tell me about you and Katherine" she said.

"What?" I asked.

"Come on Seth, It's obvious that you like her."

"What? No. She's my best friend" i argued.

"So? I may not be talking, but i know that you like her"

"How?" I asked.

"How? Oh come on. The way you look at Katherine, I can sense that you love her."

"What are you? How'd you know?" I asked her curiously.

"A wallflower, like you. Don't worry! You can tell me everything and I won't tell anybody. I know it's hard when you're falling in love with your best friend, you can't tell her/him how you really feel." she replied.

Wow, is this my lucky day? Finally. I have someone to talk to when I need to talk about my one and only Kath.

"Sigh. Thanks Tasha, I trust you." I hugged her.

"Psssh no problem! I'm a secret keeper. Anyway, you don't have any plans to tell her how you really feel about her?" She asked.

"I have, but I guess I need to wait for the perfect timing." I sighed.

"Everyday's a perfect timing Seth! Take the chance while you have it or else someone's gonna take it from you. She's your best friend and you're with her every single day, so tell her what you feel while you have the chance."

"But I already lost the chance Tasha. I was too damn weak to tell her how I really feel, because I already know she only sees me as her friend." I argued.

"Well, you might not know she likes you too" She replied.

"No, how can she like me when she's already in love with Johnny?" I asked hopelessly.

"You might not know Seth, you might not know" She said.

"Naaah, I guess I'll just stay being her best friend. That's way better than telling her how i feel. It might turn awkward between us and it might break our friendship" i said

"But-"

"Being her friend is the only way I can be with her all the time, and I'm contented with that Tasha." I interrupted. "I want Katherine to be happy with the guy she loves." I said

"But how about you Seth? Sometimes you also have to think about yourself. You're making her happy, but making yourself sad." She explained

"Love is not like the books you read, Tasha. Because some people don't end up with their true love" I argued.

"But it gives you a lesson, Seth. All you have to do is try." She replied.

Maybe Tasha's right. Maybe it's really the time that i should confess my feelings to Kath.

Until it's too late.
