Life was unfair. It was horrible and terrifying and unlawful. It had cursed him with a nervous wreak of a sister and a gender-fluid baby brother. He hated having to deal the constant crying as a ten year old when Marinette came around, and more so at thirteen.

Although . . . He had to admit they were adorable. He also didn't mind watching them grow up. The atmosphere was sweeter since they moved into a bakery in France and didn't run a sweet shop in China.

He had to admit his jealousy of how Marinette got the attic to himself while he had to share with the undefined gender child (brother, he refused to call him anything else) who kept switching between Aimé and Aimée. Wether he had a day or not, his mother would've forced him to live with it.

"Jain! Can you help out today, your sister and brother are doing their homework."

"Coming!" the boy called out to their father. He padded down the stairs, greeted warmly by the baker. He rolled his eyes as his hair was rustled. "What needs to be done?" he asked.

"I'd like you to do cash tonight, if that won't be any trouble. You know how overwhelmed the store can get."

The boy nodded and quickly added, "it's Jian."

"Oh! Right."

"That's okay," he said as he left the ground floor kitchen. The register was occupied by his mother who was trying to deal with a vividly upset costumer. She was stuttering as the seemingly one-sided argument got heated. He quickly cut in and asked the angry lady what was wrong. She repeated the mixed up order and listed the specific list of ingredients. Quickly he pulled out the correct box that was waiting and sent her out. Turning back to his mother, she sighed in relief as she touched his arm. She murmured a thank you in Chinese and left to help her husband.

"Next," Jian called out to the line head of him. It was gonna be a long day.

How I plan to write this mini-series out is interchanging between Jian, Aimé/Aimée, and Marinette (usually in that order, if not I'll always start each change with the person's name so as to not confuse anyone)

Most of it will be from the siblings' perspective since we already know exactly the entire fight and all. I'm not good at writing scenes like that anyway.
