I always wish for the good in man,
But light casts darker shadows the brighter it becomes...

Yllina stretched her arms as far as she could, her body fully rejuvenated to prepare for the journey that lay before them. The ship they took had now safely landed on the port of Zaban, the next location where the said exam would take place.

Rhode stood next to her, the look of disgust still on her face making Yllina giggle. It's not a secret to the young girl that her friend hated the scent of wet fish. In fact, the birds of the ocean were a first for Yllina, having been raised alongside with Rhode in a place nearly devoid of water, it's no surprise why there were barely any oceanic life forms except for the fishes used for cooking. The only proof Yllina had that they existed were from the books she stocked up back in her room, one of the many collections she protected with her life.

"Where do you suppose the location is? The man said to look for a small restaurant called the 'Greasy Spoon' but we've been walking for hours!" Yllina huffed tiredly, her shoulders sagging as she tried her best to scan for the said restaurant the man had described for them.

"If you're tired, we can always rest, Mistress," Rhode suggested, her eyes trailing to her young charge who did her best to look tough.

Yllina, after all, has a terrible habit of trying her best not to drag anyone down. Even with the expense of her own safety or health, Yllina always tries to act like nothing could faze her, a habit Rhode easily notices from the number of times her Mistress got hurt doing her best to keep up with the reddish-violet haired woman.

"I am not tired! I'm just frustrated that maybe we got the coordinates wrong or the man might be tricking us," Yllina defended with a huff, her tired gaze betraying her true emotions. With a consenting sigh, Rhode turns her back to her charge and kneels with her right leg, her arms behind her as if gesturing Yllina for a piggyback ride.

"I can't have you fainting from exhaustion now that we've made it this far, Mistress," Rhode finally says, Yllina staring at her older companion's back before reluctantly taking the offer, Rhode easily securing her mistress as she stood effortlessly and began to walk.

"Sorry, Rhode," Yllina apologized, the small part of her hating herself for weighing Rhode down again. It wasn't a surprise Rhode had more stamina than a whole army, after all. She had undergone intense training to be Yllina's bodyguard since she was young. Had it not been for Rhode, then Yllina would have never learned how to use the two hidden blades inside her sleeves.

Between the two of them, Yllina knew she paled in comparison to the older teen in terms of strength and skill so to make up for the number of times Rhode had saved her, Yllina made sure she wouldn't drag them down.

"Why are you apologizing? You did nothing wrong-"

"Stop patronizing me, Rhode. I hate it when you tell me it's alright to rely on you all the time! I don't want to just watch you fight from the side lines, I want to fight with you too. I hate being weak..." Yllina cut off the older teen in frustration her small arms tightly wrapping itself around Rhode. The older teen sighs at Yllina's outburst, her complaints clearly resonating with the older teen.

After all, Rhode knows the feeling all too well.

But between the two of them, there was no need for Yllina to have to resort to using blades to fight. To be honest, the older teen herself was wary at first when Yllina begged the older teen herself to teach her the art of swordplay. Rhode knew that there would be times Yllina wouldn't always be by her side now that they were outside the boundaries of home but Rhode just couldn't stomach the sight of it.
