As I walked into the lab, the first thing I noticed was the lack of assistants. It seemed that Professor Oak worked alone. That's cool. I saw the Professor, busy writing an article on something. I coughed to grab his attention. He didn't notice. He must've been busy. I decided to look at the books on his shelf. "Pokémon for beginners" "Pokémon habitats" "The Badges of Kanto" stood out at me. "Enjoy reading? I have many books on my research." A voice said, startling me. I turned to see Professor Oak behind me. "Oh, uh. H-hi Professor." I said holding my hand out to shake his. "Ah, pleasure to meet you. You're Cody, right?" he said, shaking my hand. "I've been expecting you." he signalled me to follow him, and so I did. "Uh Professor, I came to ask if-" "Shh." he said, cutting me off. "Here." He said handing me a machine. "That's a Pokédex, you'll need that for your adventure" I looked at the machine. I already knew what this done. "This records Pokémon data right?" I asked. "Correct" he answered. "Thank you" I replied as I put the dex in my backpack. "Next," he said, reaching into a bag. "you'll need these." He handed me a bag with 20 PokéBalls, 10 Great Balls and 5 Heal Balls. "Oh, thank you!" I immediately put balls in my backpack. "And lastly," I got excited, I knew what was coming next. "It's time, to pick your starter Pokémon" I already knew that I was going to pick Charmander. "Professor, please may I have Charmander?" I asked excitedly. "Oh sorry to have to tell you this." I got worried. "but I don't hand out the usual starters anymore." he said. "Why?" I asked. "That doesn't matter, what matters is you get a Pokémon." he continued. "The Pokémon available are Eevee, and Pikachu." I looked at the PokéBalls. I took out my PokéDex and searched the info on both Pokémon. "Pikachu, the Mouse Pokémon. Pikachu can be found in forest areas and enjoys Human contact. It communicates with others by flashing it's cheek pouches." The PokéDex described. "Huh, cool. Alright and next is you." I said, searching for Eevee. "Eeveem the evolution Pokémon. This Pokémon's unstable DNA structure causes it to mutate when it comes into contact with various elements. It is a very playful Pokémon." I thought it over, and I liked both Pokémon, but I remembered Ash got Pikachu when he started, so I decided not to do the same as Ash. "Ok Professor, I've decided. I'd like Eevee." I said. "Very well. Good choice." He handed me Eevee's Pokéball. I gladly took it, and thanked the Professor. "Can I send it out?" I asked. "Of course." he replied. "All right, Go! Eevee!" I said as I called the Pokémon out. The PokéBall opened, and as it did, white sparkles came out. I didn't think anything of it, but the Professor gasped. "Huh? What is it?" I asked. He smiled, "You'll see Cody." As the sparkles disappeared, my jaw dropped. It was an Eevee, but it was a glistening silver color. "Wait. Th-thats a Shiny Pokémon right Professor?" I said, shaking. "Why yes. They're very rare, and Eevee is one of the rarest. Congratulations." I walked over to the fox Pokémon. "Hello Eevee. I'm Cody. I'm your Trainer. Do you wanna come on a journey with me?" I said as I kneeled down to it. The silver colored Pokémon blinked and was a little confused, but then realized what I'd said, and playfully jumped into my arms. "Eee veeee" the Pokémon said, excitedly. "Haha, good to meet you too Eevee." I looked to the professor, "Thank you Professor." Oak smiled. "My pleasure. Good luck on your journey." He replied. I got up, and tried to send Eevee back to it's PokéBall. "Vee" it cried, as it pushed the Ball away. "Huh?" I was confused. "Ah, it seems as though Eevee doesn't like PokéBalls." Professor Oak explained. "Much like that Pikachu." he muttered quietly. "Eevee, don't you like the PokéBall?" I said. The little Pokémon shook it's head. "Well," I said, placing the Pokémon on my arm. "That's ok. you can stay out of the Ball if you want" I said. Eevee gave a big smile as it hopped down to my feet and sat down, wagging it's fluffy silver tail. I turned to Oak. "Thank you Professor, once again. I'll do my best, I promise." "Good luck" he replied.

I left the lab, Eevee following behind me. "All right Eevee, lets go." I said. "Veeee" We just got the edge of Pallet Town when all of a sudden. "HEY!" a voice called. "You got a Pokémon huh?" I knew who it was. "All right Matt, what is it?" I called out. He walked into view, he was on Route 01. "I came to keep my promise. I said I'll show you who I got, If you battled me. And now you have a Pokémon, we can battle. Speaking of, awesome luck on getting a Shiny." he explained. "Ok. And thanks." I replied. "But, a Shiny Pokémon won't help you win." he remarked. I groaned. "Anyway." he said. "Me and my Pokémon challenge you to Battle." he grabbed his PokéBall. "Do you accept?" I looked at Eevee. "You ready?" Eevee nodded. "All right. We accept." The battle started. "Ok, Let's go! Eevee!" Eevee ran up in front of me, ready to battle. "Ee VEEEE" it excitedly let out a cry, sparkling as it did. "Here we go, Go! Dratini!" He called as he tossed his PokéBall out. A blue snake like Pokémon appeared.  "Dratini? Hmm" I pulled out my PokéDex. "Dratini, the Dragon Pokémon. Dratini is known as the Mirage Pokémon because so few people have seen it." "Huh. A Dragon Pokémon?" I said. "Yeah." Matt said. "Pretty cool huh?" "Yeah, anyway, Eevee, lets go, Tackle!" I ordered. Eevee dashed at the the Dragon Pokémon, hitting head on. "Yeah! Nice job Eevee!" I called out. "Eeveeee!" the Pokémon cheerfully exclaimed. "Hmph, not bad. Now Dratini, use Wrap!" "Draaaaaa" the Pokémon shot out a blue string like coil that tightened around Eevee. "Eevee, no! Break out of it!" I shouted, worried. The fox Pokémon struggled to get out, but couldn't escape. "Dratini, make it tighter!" The Pokémon did as instructed and pulled hard on the coil, causing it get tighter. "EEEE" Eevee exclaimed in pain. I started panicking. "Eevee, no, come on. You've gotta break free! COME ON" Eevee tried it's hardest to get out, but it couldn't break out of Wrap. "Ok." Matt said. "This is it! Dratini, use Wrap, one last time!" The Pokémon pulled the coil even harder, but this time it pulled so hard, the coil broke. Eevee was free. "All right!" I said. "Eevee, you good to go?" Eevee shakily stood up. It turned back to me and nodded confidently. "All right, Eevee, TACKLE AT FULL POWER!!!!" I shouted. Eevee dashed at the Dratini, getting faster and faster as it approached. Matt knew it was over. He gasped. Eevee hit the Dratini and it managed to take out the little Dragon. "What!? How???" Matt said, confused and sure he'd win. "Grr.... I'll beat you the next time we battle." he said, upset. "Dratin, return." he called back his Pokémon. "Hey, thanks for battl-" I tried to say before he cut me off. "Don't thank me. I WAS MEANT TO WIN THAT." he shouted. "Hmph, whatever. I'll get you next time." he said as he left with his Dratini. "Well, Eevee, that was interesting." I said watching him leave. "veee" Eevee quietly said. "Anyway, we won our first battle Eevee!" Eevee keeled over, still in pain from Dratini's Wrap. "Oh, right, lets go to, uh. Hang on" I pulled out my map mum gave me and looked at the area we were heading. "Ok, there's a Pokémon Center in Viridian City, let's go there and get you healed." I said, putting the map and carrying Eevee to Viridian City. We were on our way and ready to take on anything, as soon as Eevee got healed, that was.
