I picked up Eevee and ran back to the Vermilion City Pokemon Center. Inside I saw Leaf brushing her hair. It isn't often you'd see her with her hat off. I almost got lost in her beauty when Eevee tugged at my trousers, snapping me out of my trance of admiration. "Oh, ok Eevee. I'll admire her later." I said smirking. I walked over to Leaf grabbing her shoulder, surprising her. She turned around and faced me. "What is it?" she asked, a little annoyed. I sighed. "Leaf, I'm sorry for the SS Anne incident." I said to her. "I really am." Leaf looked at me and sighed. "It's ok. I just wanted to spend time with you. 8 years is a long time you know." she said. "Anyway, enough of that, what you two want?" she asked. I stood confidently with Eevee at my side. "Leaf!" I said, pointing to her. She jumped back a little. "We challenge you to a battle!" I declared. "Ummm" she said. "A one on one! Eevee vs. whoever you want." I said as I grabbed her hand, and we ran outside.

"Ok c'mon Leaf! Let's do it!" I said with a smile on my face. Eevee jumped over to the battlefield "Oh, what the heck." Leaf replied, she looked at me straight in the eyes. "Your journey has just started. The Pokémon I'm using is very powerful, we've been through a lot together. So I hope you're ready." I returned the stare. "Go, Venusaur!" she said. A massive turquoise colored grass Pokémon appeared. Eevee looked up at the Pokémon. "Venusaur! Use Sleep Powder!" Leaf said without warning as Venusaur shook it's leaves causing a weird blue powder to scatter through the air. "Eevee try dodge it and use Sand Attack!" I told Eevee as I watched the powder particles. Eevee jumped from most of them and was about use Sand Attack when Leaf ordered her Venusaur to use the attack again. Direct hit. Eevee fell asleep. "Eevee!" I said. "Venusaur, use Body Slam!" Leaf called, not giving any rest to the attacks. Venusaur leapt up over Eevee and landed with all it's weight. Eevee was driven into the ground. "EEVEE! NO!" I shouted. Eevee woke up and struggled to get up. "Come on Eevee...." I said. "Venusaur, Razor Leaf!" Leaf called out. "Eevee! You gotta dodge this attack! C'mon!" I said hoping Eevee would dodge. And although it struggled hard, it managed to move away from the attack just in time. We were already losing to Leaf and her Venusaur. "Eevee! Use Swift!" I ordered, not wasting anytime. Venusaur took the attack easily. "Eevee Swift again!" I tries to get as many attacks in as possible, but Venusaur took each and every one of them. "Cody, you're doing well, but you won't beat Venusaur, I'm sorry." Leaf said. There had to be a way. We needed to deal damage to this Pokémon. "Eevee, Tackle!" I said. Venusaur dodged the attack with little effort. "Argh." I said quietly. "Venusaur, use Body Slam." Eevee jumped out of the way of the attack only to have Venusaur ollow up with another Body Slam. It was too much for Eevee. Eevee finally fainted. "Eevee's out for the count. Venusaur wins!" Leaf said. "Venusaur return!" she said. I picked up the exhausted Eevee. "Sorry Eevee, we couldn't do it." I said. "Thanks for battling us Leaf. It was, interesting." I said to her. "Don't worry, Venusaur has been trained so much. We hardly ever lose matches. But still, no problem." she replied.

Later on that day, I was training Vulpix against the wild Pokémon. Vulpix and Eevee were good Pokémon. Was I just a bad trainer? Probably. I suck at battling. I get through on luck. Not a good 'skill' to have is it? I sighed. Maye one day, I would get better. I had to if I was to take on Indigo Plateau. That day was far off in the future anyway. What I needed to do now was get the Thunder Badge. Lt. Surge was a very strong trainer, so we needed to batting stronger. Sometimes, I wished the battling was easy, but it's not. Its to be expected. We'd probably get a break one day. A break fom training. Until then, we continued.
