Chapter 8: Mt. Moon, Team Rocket and a Pokémon in need.

After a battling many Trainers on Route 03, and healing up at the Route's Pokémon Center, Eevee and I headed into the very infamous Mt. Moon. Mt. Moon was infamous for two reasons. The first is because many Trainers have never escaped the cave without running into Zubat, Kanto's "most annoying Pokémon". Honestly, I didn't see what was wrong with them. Zubats looked cute to me. And the second reason is because of a rumor. The rumor goes that many years ago a meteorite smashed into Mt. Moon, bringing with it one of Kanto's rarest Pokémon. Clefairy. I figured that if we ran into a Clefairy, we'd catch it, considering it was a rare Pokémon after all. While we didn't run into any Clefairys, we did run into a lot of Zubats. I could now see why people call it annoying. We fought a few Trainers inside, and located the stairs relatively fast. On the second floor of the cave, we were met with a voice coming from near the stairs. Looking over, we saw the individual was talking into an intercom. "Yeah boss. We've got the Pokémon." the voice said "No it's not Clefairy." "Yes I know sir, but trust me this Pokémon is equally as rare." "Yes sir. I'll return asap" The person looked around, seemingly to make sure nobody was watching, and picked up an Ultra Ball, and a computer. "Hey, Eevee" I whispered to my Pokémon, who was sitting atop my hat. "Is it just me or does that guy look shady?" The person was wearing a black jumpsuit with a red R imprinted on it, a black cap and matching shoes. "You're right." a voice whispered back. I turned to see a person a little taller than me. They had fierce red eyes, medium cut dark blue hair. They wore a black sleeveless shirt with black trousers, black trainers and a watch of some kind. "Name's Tsento." the person whispered. "Cody" I replied. I noticed he had a Pokémon with him, a blue frog Pokémon I'd never seen before. "That's a member of Team Rocket. A criminal organization famous for stealing Pokémon." Tsento told me. "Stealing Pokémon?" I said shocked. "Yes, for someone to be so cruel and steal a Pokémon, I won't let it happen." he said, looking quite concerned. "Come on, we can't do nothing, and since you're here, you can help." Tsento said, before dashing off in the direction of the Team Rocket grunt, his Pokémon following behind him. "Well, ok?" I said a little confused, but ran off after him, Eevee following after me. 

"Stop right there, Pokémon thief!" Tsento shouted, startling the Grunt. "Gyaah!? I was followed?" The grunt said in a rough voice. "That's right. Frogadier, go for Smack Down!" The frog Pokémon, who was above the Grunt already, fell down towards the Grunt, hitting them with it's fist. The grunt fell back, dropping the Ultra Ball. "Quickly, Cody, I've got the Grunt, you get the ball" Tsento instructed me. "Right, Eevee, c'mon!" I said, running towards the Ultra Ball. "Frogadier, Water Pulse!" I didn't quite see what happened, but judging by the Grunt's scream, it wasn't pretty. I picked up the Ball, and for now, snuck it into my backpack. "Foolish kids! Go Koffing!" The grunt yelled, and sent out their Pokémon. "Cody get out of the cave and make sure you keep that Pokémon safe, I'll beat this guy." Tsento told me. I was kind of worried, but knew the Pokémon needed to be kept safe, and so doing as instructed, I headed for the stairs and left Tsento to deal with the Grunt. I heard the commotion of the battle behind us, it was intense. The stairs were just ahead. We made a mad dash for them, avoiding wild Pokémon as much as we could, and finally we made it. To the third floor area. Up ahead there was a person blocking the exit. "Hey! Can you get out of the way!?" I said running towards him. He spun around, and revealed his face, it looked kinda worn out. He stood up instantly and shouted: "STAY AWAY! I FOUND THESE FOSSILS. THEY'RE MINE! BOTH OF THEM!" I tried pushing past but he wouldn't let me out. "Come on.I need to get out! I'm in a hurry!" I said. 'YOU DISTURBED MY RESEARCH! YOU'LL PAY!" he shouted. Without warning, the guy sent out a Voltorb. I had no choice but to battle. Our Pokémon traded hits for longer than expected, and me and Eevee were getting frustrated. "Eevee, Tackle." I frustratingly said. Finally, with one last attack, the Voltorb fainted. The opposing trainer called back their Pokémon. He appeared as though he was gonna say something, but I couldn't care less. I got out of the cave finally, and waited for about a minute and saw Tsento and Frogadier come out not too long after. "*pant* Sorry I took so long *pant*" Tsento said in gasping breaths "More grunts came as backup. But, we were fine." he said, looking at Frogadier. "Anyways, that Pokémon, who was it they had?" he asked. I took the Ultra Ball out of my backpack. "Let's see." I said tossing the ball out. The Pokémon that came out was a Vulpix. The Pokémon blinked it's eyes, looked around and was a little scared. "It's ok now Vulpix. You're safe." Tsento said to the Pokémon. The Vulpix got scared by Tsento and ran to me. "Huh?" I said. "It seems as though Vulpix sees you as more trustworthy, since you rescued. Haha" Tsento said, laughing a little. I looked at Vulpix. "Hey Vulpix. You're safe now." I said to it. It still looked scared, but it put on a smile. "Hey Tsento" I said. "What's that Pokémon you've got?" I asked pointing to Frogadier. "Oh, this is Frogadier. My partner Pokémon I've had since I was young. Frogadier has helped me out a lot." he told me. "This Frogadier is a little different however, whenever it uses an attack, it changes it's type that attacks type. It's a secret ability called "Protean". It's helped us out a lot." "Wow, that's pretty amazing." I said. "He sure is. And I notice you have a Shiny Eevee. How lucky. Anyways, we have much more work to do in other places, we'll hopefully meet again, I'm sure." Tsento replied. "Right. I hope we do too!" I said. And before long, Tsento and Frogadier were off as quickly as they arrived. I looked back at the Vulpix, who was tugging at my shoe. "Vulpix what is it?" I asked it. It pushed over the Ultra Ball it was in. "Huh? You wanna come with us?" I said. The Pokémon nodded it's head. Wasting no time at all, I called Vulpix into the ball. "Well Eevee, we have a new friend!" Eevee excitedly hopped up onto my hat once again.

"Now, we're almost there. I almost get to meet her again!" I thought to myself. "Man that Tsento guy's pretty cool huh Eevee?" Eevee was sound asleep on my head. I giggled a little at that. "Misty, here I come."
