Chapter 13: Vermilion City and boarding the SS Anne

After backtracking, because I got us lost,  through Rock Tunnel, Leaf and I finally arrived in Vermilion City. A quiet seafaring city. The two most notable things about this place were the SS Anne, a glorius cruise liner known to go to places like Hoenn, Sinnoh, even Unova. And the other was the Vermilion City Gym, and I was heading there straight away. "Hey Cody." Leaf said, tugging at my sleeve. I quietly sighed. "Yeah Leaf, what's up?" I asked. She pointed over to the pier. "Looks like the SS Anne is docked. Why don't we go on board?" she suggested. "But Leaf, the gym..." I said. "Cody, you got us stuck in the Pokémon Tower. We're going to the SS Anne." Leaf said in reply. She had a point. If it wasn't for me, we'd have been here earlier. It was the least I could do. "Ok then." I said reluctantly. Leaf smiled. "You see this is the first time I've been to Vermilion. I have always wanted to see the SS Anne since I was a little girl." she said. "Oh. But how are we gonna get on board? We don't have tickets to go on." I asked. "You don't." Leaf replied reaching into her bag and pulling out two tickets. "I do though." she said winking. "I've had these for ages. Never got to using them." she said. "Oh." I replied. We arrived at Vermilion Harbor and were greeted by a sailor who was dealing with the tickets. "Oho, two of you? Welcome aboard then!" he said, accepting Leaf's passes. "Thank you very much." Leaf said. "Uh yeah thanks." I said as we boarded the ship. 

The inside of the SS Anne was what you'd expect from a ship. Normal looking on the outside, and extraordinary on the inside. I shuffled about feeling really bored. I hated these flashy places. Leaf and Eevee on the other hand couldn't stay still. They were extremely excited to be on the SS Anne. Leaf and Eevee took turns looking at different displays. One of them was a model of the Indigo Plateau. "I'll get there one day." I said to myself looking at it. Leaf pulled my arm making me lose concentration. "C'mon Cody. There's more stuff to see!" she said pulling me along. I sighed. This was gonna be a long day. Some time passed and I'd gotten separated from Leaf and Eevee somehow. Taking this opportunity I decided to rest in one of the cabins. The first one I went in had an old man who chased me out, another had a couple doing their, business, and another had a guy claiming he was part of the international police. I finally found an empty cabin and went in. I layed on the bed and sighed. My feet were aching, and my neck was stiff. "Damn this feels good." I said as sunk inti the matress. I started thinking about back home in Pallet Town, how mum and dad were doing. Also I wondered where Matt was. And how Ash was doing. So many things I thought about. I eventually shut my eyes and drifted off to sleep. "Cody... I have honestly like- no loved you for a while now. It's about time I stopped being stupid and scared. W-w-will you..." a voice said. "Will I what?" I asked. "Will you.." I woke up to being shaken in my bed. I looked up wearily and saw an angry Leaf. "GET UP? WILL YOU GET UP!?" she asked angrily. "Uhh. What?" I asked. *CRASH* I fell out of the bed. "Urgggh. How long have I been sleeping?" I asked. "Long enough." Leaf replied. "Get up, we have to go." she said, helping me up. "Oh. Ok." I said, half-asleep. 

Outside, the sunlight blinded me a little, and I covered my face. "Thank you for boarding the SS Anne. Have a nice day!" the ticket guy said as we headed to Vermilion. "That was nice." I said to Leaf. No answer. "Leaf, I..." I stopped there. I had to get ready for the Vermilion City Gym Battle tomorrow. I didn't want too much on my mind. Later that night, Eevee, Vulpix and I were training against the wild Pokémon, and I figured it wasn't really helping us at all. Then an idea popped into my head.

Author's Note: So the SS Anne trip didn't go down to well, hope Leaf's OK. And what is my big idea? Here's a hint, Chapter 14's going to show us Leaf's team. Anyways, sorry for the short chapter.
