Route 23. One of Kanto's most famous Routes. It is the Route all Pokémon Trainers go to reach Victory Road, the gateway to Pokémon League. Of course, if we were going to make it to Pokémon League, we'd need the 8 Kanto Gym Badges. The Boulder, Cascade, Thunder, Rainbow, Soul, Marsh, Volcano and Earth Badges. It was going to be hard, but worth it. We will get there one day. But right now.

"All right Eevee! You ready?" I called. Eevee eyed down the wild Spearow. I breathe quietly, close my eyes. "ALL RIGHT!" I say with a shout. "EEVEE! USE SAND-ATTACK AND LOWER IT'S ACCURACY!" I command Eevee. "Eeveee" Eevee runs in a circle around the Spearow, kicking up sand, blocking it's sight. "ROOOOW" The Spearow looks around, confused. "All right, nice job Eevee!" I call out. "Ok, Eevee, now! Tackle!" Eevee slams into the wild Pokémon knocking it out and forcing it into submission. "Ok! Nice work Eevee!" We'd been training for a few hours now, and Eevee learned new battle tactics, such as the Sand-Attack combo. We were doing really well. "Eevee" I call the Pokémon's name. Eevee looks up at me smiling. "Let's go, I want to show you something." I guide Eevee to a brick path, and not even a few seconds after I heard a familiar voice. "Well well well. Look who it is. Cody." It was of course Matt. "Oh Matt. What do YOU want?" I asked. "I can ask you the same." he smirked. "Haha, you going to Pokémon League? pfft, as if you'll ever get there." He said. "Whatever, you, me, NOW. Let's fight." He challenged. It took me by surprise. "Wait a sec-" I was cut off by Eevee growling. I sighed. "Ok, let's go." I accepted. "My team's different than the last time we fought." he jeered.

"Ok! Let's do this! Go! Eevee!" Eevee, ready for battle, stepped up to the battlefield. "Go! Spearow" he tossed a PokéBall and out came his newest Pokémon, Spearow. We'd fought Spearow before, but this was different. "I'll *let* you go first." Matt said sarcastically. "Eevee, let's do it. Sand-Attack." Eevee started kicking up sand to try lower Spearow's accuracy. Matt laughed. "Huh, what's funny?" I asked. "My Spearow doesn't care about your Sand-Attacks. Keen-Eye prevents it's accuracy being lowered." he told me. I gasped, I didn't even remember Keen Eye. "Oh Spearow." Matt called out. "Ready, and go! Fury Attack!" Spearow flew up and dived straight at Eevee. "RRRRRRROOOOOOOWWW" it cried as it came close to Eevee. "Eevee! Quickly dodge it, and use Tackle." Eevee swiftly jumped over Spearow and spun around to face it and charged at the Pokémon. Spearow didn't even have a chance to react. One hit took it out, to both me and Eevee's surprise. "Get back, Spearow!" Matt said, returning Spearow to it's PokéBall. "Now, it's time to win, Go! Dratini!" he said. The Dratini appeared and eyed Eevee fiercely. Eevee returned the stare. I was tense, K remembered how close our last fight was. "Eevee, Sand-Attack!" Eevee started kicking up sand to blind the Dratini. "No, Dratini Dragon Rage!" Dratini easily avoidedthe Sand-Attack and fired a beam of energy right at Eevee. It was a powerful attack. It knocked Eevee across the Battlefield. "EEVEE!" I shouted. Eevee struggled to get up.  "Again!" Matt ordered. Dratini did as instructed. "Dodge it Eevee!" I called out, panicked. Eevee tried it's hardest, but it couldn't dodge, and it took the full attack. Eevee fainted. "HAHAHA! Good job Dratini.I told you I'd beat you! I TOLD YOU CODY!" Matt said. I ignored him, and went to get Eevee. "Come on Eevee. Let's go." I said picking up the passed out Pokémon. "See you never, Cody!" Matt jeered as he left for Viridian.

Eevee was back to full health in no time thanks to the Pokémon Center, and the old man finally moved. I kept trying to figure out why that Dragon Rage was so powerful, but I couldn't think. "Veeee" Eevee tugged at my pants' leg. "Hmm?" I looked at Eevee, she was pointing to a person walking towards us. "Oh shit..." I said under my breath. It was none other than Misty. I quickly moved away as she got closer, but she kept walking towards us. "Uhm, hi there?" I said to her when she stopped in front of us. Misty looked at me, then at Eevee. "I am sorry for being rude earlier, I was in a hurry. I hope you'll understand." she said. I was about to say something like "It doesn't matter" when she then said, "You're a Trainer right? Then I guess I'll see you in Cerulean City then." she said. Wait, WHAT? I said to myself. Hmm, was that asking me out???? I thought. I must've had a confused look on me because she said "Uhh, hello? For the gym battle?" I snapped back into reality. (Man how stupid I was) "Of course. I'll see you there." "Ok, bye." She said as she left. "Well, that was interesting." I said. "Ok Eevee, are you ready for the Viridian Forest?" I looked down at Eevee. Eevee happily nodded it's head. "Ok, let's go!"

Authors Note: Wow, tensions between Eevee and Dratini are growing huh? Man. Anyway, on Twitter, Charizard139 asked me about this story's inclusion of Misty. Now while I obviously can't reveal much about the story, I can tell you that this story revolves around my first experience with Pokémon. (IRL stuff) My favourite Pokémon is Eevee, I love collecting shinies, I got into a fight with a kid around Christmas, and while the story exaggerates it a bit, irl I only waited a few months to get my Gameboy and Pokémon Blue Version. Misty has a special place in my childhood. Will she be included more in the story? Who knows? Only me. Anyways, like always, a ★ Vote is greatly appreciated, but only if I deserve it. ^^ Love you guys! See you for Chapter 5!
