Piper Green was just a sweet girl that lived in Kansas. She lived everyday happy and content and she enjoyed the simple things in life.

She lived with her grandfather and her sister while her parents were working in the city. Her best friend Blake Gordon lived in the house next to her.

When she hit the age of 12, things started to change. At first, she thought everything changed for the good. She had secretly had a crush on Blake for two years. Until the day he told her he liked her.

After the day that Piper confessed to him too, the two had been the happiest they'd ever been. But they still remained the sweet and innocent selves they were. Until one year later, when things took a turn for the worst.

Piper's grandfather got ill. Blake started to change. Their house was up for selling.

Piper went through a few months with the horrible turn of events. When her grandfather passed away, her parents gave her the choice of either staying in Kansas with her uncle and aunt, or returning home with them.

She had thought of staying, for Blake. But when she was about ask him what he thought she should do, he did something that only made Piper's decision final - she was going to move on and say goodbye.

With out another glance, Piper packed her bags and went. And left her used-to-be-best-friend-slash-childhood-crush behind.

And since then, she's refused to ever think of that boy again. That boy who was the one that got away. Or was she the one that got away from him?

We all have that one person who got away.

It could be someone you saw in a grocery store, buying the chocolate you were craving for or eating your favorite ice cream. And when you just got the courage to talk to him/her, they slipped away before you even got the chance to say 'hi'.

It could be the person you were crushing on since forever and just when you were about tell them, they disappear without a trace.

It could even be your ex, if you had to let go of him/her for the good of your relationship.

Or it could be a loved one that passed away...

But whatever the situation, we all have them. And this is the story of Piper and Blake and how they were each others 'one that got away'. But at the same time, they were also each others' 'one that came to stay'.
