Chapter Twenty - The talk? Seriously?

No, I haven't. That was what I would've said. But instead, I just looked at him with blank eyes and asked, “What?”

He clarified that his parents had bought three tickets to go the Philippines—one for me, one for him, and one for Katie. The tickets were set for us to travel on February Thirteen, which was three days from now.

After I processed everything, I squealed and hugged him, then apologized for crushing his already bruised bones. He chuckled.

“That's okay,” he brushed it off.

“But seriously,” I told him. “You really don't have to do this, you know. You already said thank you—“

“I want to do this,” he cut me off. “And plus, the tickets are already bought.”

I nodded. After spending another hour or so with him in the hospital, I bid him goodbye and left.

When I arrived home, I immediately told everyone the news. To my surprise, they all just laughed at me like what I said was the funniest thing in the world.

“Wh-what's so hilarious?!” I demanded, putting a hand on my hip.

“We already know, Piper!” Peyton said, brushing a tear from her eye. “They of course needed your passport and visa! How do you think they got the tickets to travel so soon?”

Facepalm. Ultimate idiot moment for Piper Green right there, folks.

After they stopped laughing—which was well over three minutes—mom and Peyton helped me pack. But before we did, we went on my computer and did some research.

Turns out that right now, the weather in The Philippines isn't as hot as it is in the summer, but it isn’t rainy, either. It’s cloudy, with a little sunshine. So we packed tank tops and thin shirts and shorts and flip flops.

We only filled up half of my suitcase by the time I got a phone call from Katie. "P! I'm so sorry, but I can't go to the trip! I have a really important family reunion on the thirteenth! I already told Hari, but I'm really sorry!”

I was disappointed, I wouldn't deny that. But I decided to just tell her okay.

That night, I wondered what we would do with the third ticket. But as my thoughts wandered away, I felt myself drifting off to sleep.

❤❤❤

Hari called the next morning.

It turned out that Blake was coming with us instead of Katie. He told me that we were leaving on February 13, and were coming back on February 17. And he said that everything was set, including Blake’s information and necessities and Visa.

Don’t ask how the Lims were able to manage that so fast, because even I didn’t know!

I checked the time and saw that it was nine thirty. Yup, I was very late for school. I was thinking that maybe I should just skip school. But I wanted to go to music class, so I just decided I’d go after lunch.

Taking a long bath, I hummed a random tune under my breath. When I stepped out of the shower, my phone rung and I cursed. Wearing only a towel and my hair dripping wet, I picked up the phone.

“What?” I greeted.

“Oh, Piper!” It was Cassandra’s voice.

“Wah-Cassandra?! Aren’t you in class right now?”

“There isn’t any school today, duh!” she replied. What? Why?

“Uh, okay. Why are you calling me, anyway? If you’re worried about the report, don’t worry. We’ll pass it tomorr—“
