❤ Chapter Five - Use somebody ❤
Blake drove me home as I turned on his radio and switches through stations.
"Okay! Here's a request from birthday girl, Aisha. She wants us to play the karaoke to Use Somebody by Kings of Leon. Hmm, we don't usually play karaoke songs but since it's your birthday, we'll give it a shot..." the man on the radio station was saying.
"Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! I absolutely looooooooovvveee this song!" I exclaimed as I squealed in my seat. Blake laughed at me and shook his head.
The intro started playing and I nearly had a heart attack. And then I sang.
"I've been roaming around, always looking down, at all I see..." I shut my eyes and strummed to my air-guitar. "Painted faces fill the places I can't reach. You know that I could use somebody, you know that I could use somebody..." and then I drummed on the seat.
"Someone like you and all you know, and how you speak... countless lovers undercover on the street. You know that I could use somebody," I strummed my air-guitar again. "You know that I could use somebody... someone like you!" When the chorus started, I opened my eyes again and looked over at Blake.
He had slowed his driving. So now, any person walking down the sidewalk could've easily surpassed us. And he gripped the steering wheel tightly, with his mouth ajar and his eyes looking at me wide.
"What?" I asked him. He didn't respond, he just continued to stare at me like I was a ghost or something.
"Join in!" I invited him, but he still continued to do what he did - stare. So I shrugged. "Suit yourself, Blakie boy."
"Oh-woah-oh! Oh-woah-oh! Oh-woah-oh! Oh-woah-oh!" I rocked out to my invisible drums and electric guitar. "Okay now this is my favorite part," I said excitedly. "Off in the night, while you live it up, I'm off to sleep. Waging wars to shake the poet and the beat, I hope it's gonna make you notice... I hope it's gonna make you notice... Someone like me!" I sang and then stopped again when it went through the chorus.
I looked at Blake and saw that he had actually stopped driving completely.
"What the heck are you doing?" I asked him. He didn't respond. I waved a hand in front of his face.
"Heelloo?" I asked.
"Y-you..." he started. "S-s-sing...?"
"Is that a question, a statement or have you not finished your sentence yet?" I laughed.
"Wh-what?"
"What?"
"Nothing."
"Okay,"
"Okay." He started driving again.
After a while, I started laughing. "You are one weird dude," I said.
He didn't respond as he payed his attention back to the road.
When we pulled up the road to my house, Blake took off his seat belt and started to open his car door when I stopped him.
"Wait, don't! I mean... if you get out, the neighbors will see you and think that we're... You know..."
He laughed and reluctantly closed his door shut. "Okay fine, but just this once."
I smiled at him as I took off my seat belt. "Okay. Thanks for the ride," I told him as I got out of the car. I waved at him and then ran towards the house. Before I could turn the doorknob, Peyton already swung the door open.
