My first day with a tattoo that I did not remember actually went by quite smoothly. My parents ended up with a couple interviews away from home and that left me with pretty much my four siblings and a lot of time to do what we wanted.
By the time it was 2 o'clock in the afternoon, I had beaten Campaign on Halo Reach on Normal and played Minecraft with the twins for almost an hour on Survival Easy. I then decided to head over and get my hair done over in a quaint little barbers shop that I had seen while getting my room in order.
I made sure I had enough money, and then walked in the store. A lovely older lady smiled and asked how I was doing. I could see her name was Renee from the tag on her apron. I replied to her inquiry and she asked what I had in mind. I told her my end goal, and she seemed confident that she could nail the hair style in less than four hours.
After seating me in a swivel chair, Renee left to grab the supplies needed from the back. I began to spin and think about what I was about to do when I heard a cough and stopped to find Renee with an astonished look on her face.
"Oh my gosh! I am so sorry! I..." She interrupted me by waving her hand.
"Dear, even I act childish sometimes. That is how you keep sane as an adult."
She walked behind my chair, adjusted my position and told me to keep still while she applied the first dye to my hair. I waited and soon felt a small burn on my scalp which let me know that she was about done with my hair for now.
After making sure all my hair had been lathered with the dye, she finally was satisfied with the placement of my head and left me to my own devices, literally. As soon as she went into the front to greet more customers, I pulled out my phone and saw that I had three new messages. One of them was from Gracie, which went something along the lines of how dead I was since I did not respond immediately to her texts. The next was from Lydia, asking where I was and how long I would be because Mom and Dad were wondering. And the very last number was unknown.
I went against my common sense and opened the message. It read, "I am only telling you this because you will not tell anyone." That was it, and I could feel my eyes rolling.
"Stupid people. Trying to be funny when all they are is creepy." I turned off my phone and stuck it back in my back right pocket where it usually was. Then, I heard Renee coming to the back. As she led someone to the chair adjacent to mine, she called over her shoulder, "Sorry hon. I will be right back, this young gentleman just needs a touch up."
I told her I was fine, and began making funny faces to myself in the mirror. Then, I saw him in the reflection. He was not that bad looking, I just could not believe how many piercings were on his face alone. There were gauges in his ears and a nose ring, with two sets of snake bites and an eyebrow piercing. He had sleeves of tattoos and I could see he had more on his back and stomach due to the revealing vest he was wearing. He caught sight of me in his mirror and began to smirk as a blush overcame me at being caught staring.
I could see Renee doing something with platinum blonde highlights and cherry red lowlights to this guys hair. It looked really cool from where I was sitting. After she told him to stay put for a moment, she hustled over to me and began to apologize. I waved it off.
"Nah, it is all good. If anything, my hair probably needed the extra time to soak in the color."
She nodded and began unwrapping my hair from the position it was in on the top of my head. As she made me bend my head over the sink to rinse out and condition my hair, I caught his eye wandering over me. I winked and then stifled a giggle as he looked away, mumbling something. Then, Renee told me to keep still so my hair could be blow dried.
