I was surprised, to say the least. No matter what I did to try and make sense of the situation, all I could think of was his face when he was saying it. It was happy, like he really had waited for this. But, before I could question him on it, he disappeared and I was left alone with my thoughts.
For about two minutes, I stood there, hoping he came back and explained himself. But he never came, and I was left in silence. Then, the familiar part of my dreams started. The nightmares today consisted of Domonic and I enjoying dinner together, and somehow I would always end up always choking on something in the food and the last thing I would see before darkness overcame me was his face, filled with worry and pain, settle in front of me. Blackness would overtake me, but I would always hear a scream of rage and agony before fading.
I woke up, this time rather peacefully. Now that I knew for certain Domonic was telling the truth, I felt much better about whether or not to go out with him. I was still unsure of whether I he could be trusted fully, but I knew I could handle him if necessary.
As I got out of bed and began to get ready for the day, I looked at my phone and saw a couple new messages.
Unknown: Hey, Cynthia. It is Kevin, from Hot Topic. You have 'work' at 4-10 today.
Unknown: Are you even awake yet? We have a lot of work to do before you meet up with Domonic again.
Unknown: Ok. I am officially opening the store. And I want you to be here, with the book, on time please.
I added Kevin into my contacts, and then looked at the time. It was noon, which meant I had 2 hours to relax before I had to get ready. I walked slowly downstairs, afraid that something else was going to happen. To my surprise, everyone was downstairs eating lunch.
"Look, Sleeping Beauty wakes. Who kissed you, honey?" My dad snickered at his lame joke before giving me the look. The look meant he wanted to talk to me when I was done.
I gulped, and shakily got my cereal and milk out, along with a spoon. I pulled out my moms cookbook and set the cereal in front of it. As I flipped through the pages and looked for recipes that piqued my interest, I saw that a sticky note was set on the page. I pulled it off, curious as to what was on it.
Love, although fleeting, can never be replaced.
Find me at the place it all began, darling.
I knew he meant the attic, but I sent a silent prayer that he would forgive me for going to talk to my dad before going up to him. I walked over to my dads office, hoping he would be quick. I really did not want to be late for something and get more family members hurt.
After I sat down in the armchair, dad and I chatted for a while, catching up on stuff that had recently happened. Although he asked about a love life, I shook my head. It was easier to pretend I had no significant other than to even try and explain to my father what was going on.
He let me go back outside after a brief hug, and I rushed up to the attic. I tripped halfway up the stairs, but brushed off the pain and continued. As I got closer to the area, I heard someone softly singing Goodbye Agony- Black Veil Brides. They sounded amazing, but I was more confused when I walked in to find no one there.
I looked around, but could not find anyone or anything. Puzzled, I looked over to the box where the shards of glass from Domonic's prison still remained. I spotted something shiny, and walked over. A golden string was coiled in the middle of the shards, glinting innocently, as though it did not know where it lay. I reached in to pull it out, but cut my finger on a shard of glass. Almost instantly, I felt woozy. Stumbling away, I fell to the ground and managed to look slightly upwards. I spotted those black dress shoes from my dream and mumbled, "Domonic."
